Yes, I'm crying over spilled milk: We missed Rambo

top dawg

Bacarri Rambo had ten tackles (6/4) and one sack in his first game.  G-man and Rivera missed on that one (and probably undrafted WR, Marlon Brown as well).  For someone who is supposed to be a specialist at ferreting out talent, Gettleman totally whiffed on Rambo.  And, no, I don't care that 30 other teams passed on Rambo.  We needed a safety, and I believe he is one that we should have drafted.

kind of annoying how some people seem to think that not hitting homeruns in every single round of the draft or in UDFAS is indicative of lack of an eye for talent.

"gettleman is supposed to be a good talent evaluator but there's a good player on another team that he didn't get."

c'mon dude

Rambo sucked ass in his first game.

That's a little strong, but Rambo had some good points during his first game also. Of course one doesn't expect a great game out of a rookie safety or defensive back during his first ever defensive game. Of course you're going to have the bad angles and not necessarily realizing that Vick and McCoy are fast and shifty as hell (and make the best of them miss), but Rambo did have 10 tackles and a sack, nevertheless.

He left his own thread.

Funny.

No. Just more interested in others. There is really no reason to cry over Rambo at this point.

Where have you gone top dawg? Come back and talk to us.

I love talking to you guys, Red.

Nit picking a little I see buddy. Some of you fans are absolutely ridiculous with the crap you right & how quick you throw in the tow. Why even be a fan if all your gonna do is Bitch about every single thing. Come on!!

??

Not sure this is the right thread. This isn't about throwing in the towel or bitching, it's about missing on Rambo. Simple as that.

Like I said above, it was only Rambo's first game, so if you think about it, he did some good things. There are going to be growing pains for any rookie in the defensive backfield, particularly against athletes with the shiftiness of Vick and Shady.  I know Skins fans of course (sometimes it seems that it's more of them than us), and just like me, they aren't ones to go off the deep end over one game, and try to look at the overall picture a little bit more analytically, as opposed to screaming "bloody murder" because someone has what many consider a "bad game".  They will tell you the same thing.  They believe that Rambo has been very coach-able, has made marked improvements throughout the spring until now, and will be more than solid as he gains experience (notwithstanding taking his lumps along the way).  Let me also note that some Skins fans think that Rambo, and the defense in general would have played better if Reed Doughty had been in as opposed to E.J. Biggers.

Yes, I could be wrong, but I believe that one day we'll be saying we missed the boat on Rambo, and that day may come sooner rather than later. But, it's not like I will be obsessing over it, or even think about it as time goes on because I'm more of a John Fox it-is-what-it-is type of guy. At the end of the day, I'm just giving a shout out to my fellow Bulldog, and if you really want to know the truth it's Marlon Brown that may end up as the real miss here.
