Ranking the Young QB's According to ESPN

Would u be surprised if ESPN came up with their lists the same exact way? Completely computer generated? I know I wouldn't

-"Ok Adam Schefter and Jaws click the button!"

..........(computer sounds)

-"Okkk. For durability we got.... Cam Newton 4th!"

-"LOL alrighty lets go with it!"

Actually until Cam is a "winning QB", yea I would.  There's no reason to put him up there at the top of any of these lists, because the perception among the masses is that he's a loser who can't do what those other guys can.  Nobody has time to look at whats happening with the other 52 plays on a team, just the QB.  Unfortunately guys that shouldn't drive this (Polian, Dilfer etc) do.  That's the sports media world we live in...

Listen I agree with what you're saying. But by that logic, why not just call the list "winners and losers." And just list Cam at the bottom of all of them. My problem is, that if they are ranking the BEST young QBs, then put cam near the bottom since we havent made the playoffs. But if you're taking the time to name a category "DURABILITY." Then at least do your readers justice and be truthful. And not list the tall/slender 9 game starter ahead of our linebacker sized QB that has never been in question of starting all 33 games of his career

Like I said, I'm not saying the list has any validity whatsoever.  It's a shitty list designed to prop up the guys they want to prop up.  That's all.

Well yeah, that & rating him below a guy with a lower completion%.

As stated earlier, it's clickbait.

I posted this a while back but it still stands.

10 steps to making money in journalism.

1. Don't be afraid to take people out of context, nobody reads retractions.

2. If you don't have any leads, insist you have "sources". You don't even have to give retractions if you have "sources".

3. If at all possible, bash the popular guy.

4. If popular guy cannot be bashed, take contrary position couched in "caution".

5. Beat people over the head with your hits, ignore your misses.

6. Imply that everyone else who really understands the topic agrees with you.

7. Watch highlights & listen to clips only, because that's what most people see. Find any controversy you can in those.

8. If you are shown to be wrong, ignore it as much as possible until a) you have something that shows you're right or b ) enough time has passed that you can 180 your stance without admitting you were wrong.

9. Don't be afraid to take on rebuttals from your audience. You have the stage. They can be cut off at any time. If they truly catch you out, laugh it off, point you your press credentials as if that means you are more knowledgeable.

10. Pissing people off makes more people listen. That means more attention for you. That means more money.

The article points out how amazed everybody was with Luck and Wilson's mastery of their respective playbooks in their rookie season, but which one of them came in and ran their offense their rookie season without a full training camp and without working with their coaches most of the off-season. Oh, that's right, that was neither of them, that was Cam Newton who came in and set rookie passing records with no training camp...but according to ESPN he lacks intelligence and football IQ...righhhht.

And the durability ranking is so laughable it's not worth talking about. Less durable than 5'11 Wilson...sure.
