According to FootballOutsiders, Panthers Offense 9th Best in Week 1

...along with Olsen forgetting how to catch the ball, and Bell playing like he was wearing roller skates.

Every offense every week can point out a handful of negatives, no matter the performance.

Good QB rating. Good YPC.

7 points.

Would u put money on it this weekend for any NFL game? 7 points will win?

I might. The Jags got the ball past their own 35 I believe only a handful of times last week. If the Raiders score 7, they may win.

On the flip side, I don't know a lot of people that would put money on 12 points winning a game, but it did.

We'll let's see. When your offense does even get going and they are constantly getting off the field quick then the defense is out there a long time. That defense did its job no matter how many yards they game up. They held a Super Bowl contender to 12 points. The offense job is to score.

There are a lot more good things about the offense than I originally though after going back and watching the game a couple times and analyzing the game more closely through statistics.

You can say what you want, I realize that in your mind you think saying "7 points" as if it is your trump card.

But in order to evaluate the offense and project it moving forward you have objectively look at all of the factors involved.

That is why most statistical analysis says the offense performed at a level that you refuse go believe so you are reduced to the simplistic echo of "7 points"

You're characterizing the overall sloppy play of our offense on Sunday as a "handful of negatives"?

Byron Bell's performance alone was a "handful of negatives".

Cam's ability covers up a lot of warts... the offense performed as well as it did (on paper) because Cam once again found ways to make up for the inequity of execution all around him.

I do find it interesting though that most people here think our defense kicked ass in spite of allowing Russell Wilson his first 300 yard game, but most also agree that our offense was complete poo.

Front 7 played lights out....pressured Wilson all day and shut down their running game.

Back 4 played like dog poo.

Arr we talking goals or realistic expectation based on factors of the game?

The goal is to score every time we have the ball, yet it is an unrealistic expectation.

I see. Now you are saying 2 touchdowns in a home game is not realistic.

Or hell, how about a touchdown and 2 field goals.

I guess I am just not realistic then.

I agree fully. But unfortunately the defense is one unit. So even if every week the front 7 reaches the QB and Hardy gets his 50 sack goal this year, if you're giving up the booty on the back end, it is still poo.

It is.

What is the ultimate goal of the offense? Get yards or score points?

Spin away....

Was it in Shula's gameplan for Olsen to develop a case of the dropsies and for Williams to fumble on Seattle's 8 yard line during the game winning drive?

What would have been the acceptable points threshold for you against one of the best defenses in the league?
