Are you a Cynic or a Realist?

A cynic by nature disagrees with things and tends to try and find holes in things that don't fit their own definitions regardless of their relative expertise on the subject. Realists tend to accept that that definition is one way to look at it without necessarily totally agreeing with it or feeling a need to argue. If they disagree they tend to acknowledge the other's point of view before offering an alternative view.

It's quite an assumption to say someone is a cynic disagrees with things by nature based on them simply disagreeing with this thread but more power to you if that's what you wish to do.

P55 is a cynic by his definition, btw.

I was just thinking the same thing.  I expect to see quite a few pages of argumentative projections clarifying what a cynic is to people and how they are wrong.

I'll gladly admit as of late I'm quite cynical towards this team.  That is until I see actual success without their need in my help offering up optimism to all..

I suppose I'm a bit of both but tend to error on the side of realism. I do my best to avoid knee-jerk reactions in life and especially with sports. I get worked up during a game when our team plays like a high school squad a times but realize that it's just a game played by milionairs owned by billionaires. So in the end however fun or disppointing it is, it's just a game.

Example, this last game against Seattle I tried to focus on the chess match between the two teams regarding strategy and approach. To me that says more about our future success as a team than the outcome of the intend play. The result of each play is greatly affected by the execution of our team and the response of the other team. What I saw was that we had the best laid plan but poorly executed whether by lack of preparation, which I doubt, or lack of focus, which I believe to be the case. Seattle was a good guage of our strengths and weaknesses and I'm glad we played them the first game as it was a good test for this team. Now they know what they have to do if they want to be in the top 10 in the league. I think this team is close to being very good on a consistent basis and I think all that's missing besides a few competent players at a couple of positions, WR, G and CB is confidence.
