Greg Rosenthal- What we're not overreating to in Week 1

when CRA is the voice of hope for the panthers you know this place has fuging crashed

we are a losing team and we've reached a point where people are cool with it because the offense looked efficient even if it was ineffective in doing it's main job which is getting into the endzone.

this place has gone full loony. people wanted to have a rabid loyal fanbase like the browns and bills have who support their team regardless of the fact that they do nothing but lose and all they do is stare at the little bit of good they can find and overlook the fact that the one thing they are best at is making excuses for losing. i guess we have arrived.

when we start actually winning games i'll be happy with what they are doing. until that happens, we are a losing team and i'm not going to trick mysekf into just accepting that and being happy with it. the end result is all that matters.

Oh but the incessant bickering, ranting, and temper tantrums filling up threads isn't nonsense?

Do you think that you might just be exaggerating there a bit? I myself have not seen anyone here use the words "just peachy" to describe our offense in the aftermath of the loss to Seattle filled with senseless player gaffes.

Right now there seem to be two groups of fans here.

The sky is falling crowd who have been pushing this agenda since we promoted Shula, and the crowd who realize we played arguably the best D in the NFL and want to see at least one more game before committing seppuku.

the sky fell years ago.

i don't want shula to fail. i don't want the panthers to suck. i don't want to be right about  shula. none of us do. i  want him to succeed. i just haven't seen what i want to see which is an offense that is prolific and that can dominate the other team.

there is no agenda. there is being unhappy with the fact that we lost once again a game that we had in hand and there is also frustration that people seem to be cool with that.

not in words, but in attitude. it's the accepting of it and finding excuses for it.

Well, if you view anything that isn't "Wtf, Shula sucks, Rivera sucks. Fire everyone." as simply accepting losing and making excuses. Then I suppose that would be true. In reality though, it's simply called difference of opinion.

I really hope we win Sunday, because this place won't make it if not. We lost our opener in a close game and should have won it if not for mental errors, but posters and even mods embarrassingly enough are going bonkers.

I just want to win like everyone else. I'm not going to lose my sanity though.

Funny how you guys are going to accuse others of using straw man arguments. Yet people that don't fit with your views are immediately labeled as accepting of losing and making excuses? Hypocritical much at all? I guess not.

Carry on everybody.

Yes, because saying someone is making excuses is the same as ....

"Wtf, Shula sucks, Rivera sucks. Fire everyone."

or... you don't understand what a straw man is.

Enjoy. :)

I don't think being critical of Shula is overreacting a bit.  The offense scored 7 points, Cam threw for 125 yards, we ran only 50 plays, and the play calling was highly conservative.  How should people react to that?

Our defense will keep us in a lot of games this season.  And our offense will score enough on a lot of Sundays to win.  That doesn't mean we should be happy with such a conservative, cautious attitude, particularly when we actually have some good weapons. Scoring is up everywhere except in Carolina, and that's not ok.  Why pretend it is?

Apparently they should write 1000 word posts on how great it is?

Pete Carroll prior to the game, on how to stop Cam and the Panthers:

“We have to do everything right. This is not easy. This is as difficult a plan that we have to put together. That’s why we have been working on it for so long.”

I think it's worth noting, the Seahawks have some pretty damn good coaches and spent all offseason prepping for this game.  I don't expect the rest of our opponents to fair so well.
