The same old Panthers: Carolina's loss to the Seahawks in Week 1 looked a lot like so many Panthers games last year. They played well against a quality opponent, but couldn't close. The offense played things too close to the vest overall, but I'm still convinced this is a playoff team.

Carolina's defense lived up to the hype. It took some ridiculous plays from Russell Wilson to beat them. A defensive line this good is going to win a lot of games.

This is exactly why I am not panicking! Guys, we were not expected to go 16-0! We are going to be fine. When you see a good team, you know one. Tough defense, disciplined patient offense dictating the pace of the game.

 

Like Greg, I think we are a playoff team. The offense will come along.

Ive come to the conclusion that Shula's offense is very polarizing. You either hate it or love it. People that love clock control, conservative, old school ground and pound football will love Shula's offense. Those who like shootout type offenses where QBs put up 400 plus passing yards and deep bombs down field are going to hate it.

What people seem to forget is Cam has only won one game when throwing a pick, just one! I say keep Cam in this offense it drastically reduces the chance of interceptions and keeps the overall morale alive.

I persnally hate deep vertical offenses, why? Sure, you might score a TD in just a matter of minutes but that just means more snaps for your defense to tire out and get worn down. Im all for any kind of playcalling that keeps our offense on the field for the longest possible time therefore Im a big proponent of Shula ball. Infact, if you love offense it makes more sense to love Shula ball because that just means the offense will keep the ball for a lot longer periods of time.

I never got the appeal of gun slinging offenses that try to score TDs in just a few drives, I love that pig skin, I want my offense with that football for as long as humanly possible, I dont like it when opposing offenses have the ball. Maybe im just crazy for wanting to keep the opposing offense on the bench for as long as possible and with Shula ball, thats what you get and I love it.

I think we are a confused fanbase. We have tried this before. In Cam's first two years, he was slinging the ball so much (hence the most passing yds in the first two yrs by any QB), yeah we won some but overall, we were more prone to mistakes and offenses just had the ball back and drove on our weak defense. I'm surprised that people are complaining when we are trying something different in an attempt to win when the old style had not worked!

I think people are way too quick to assume that bc we faced Seattle.... a team Cam didn't fling it around with crazy Ole Chud as our OC....is done flinging the rock

Call me crazy but if I had to choose to have a offense that scores TDs but only eats up a few minutes in clock or a offense that scores FGs but eats up 7-9 minutes each time they have the ball, id rather have the FGs.

Keep your defense healthy and rested, cut down on interception risks and completely gas and run down the opposing defense and watch opposing QBs looking bored on the sideline. Yes sir
