How many points against Buffalo will the Offense need to redeem themselves?

It is time to win, and I don't give a damn how we do it. Given our recent history, I would think that would be good enough for most fans.

It's like Seattle put up 40 on us. Seattle only scores one touchdown as well. I'm pretty sure they aren't concerned. It was a defensive battle. That's all no need for panic. The offense was efficient. They had a game plan stuck to it and it worked save one freak play.

We won't be playing Seattle every week that alone will make the offense better.

My interpretation of the OP, which may have been incorrect, was "how many points does the offense need to do in order to regain your confidence in them?"  Perhaps I was wrong, but I'm not going to be happy with our offense if it sucks, no matter the outcome of games.  I may be happy with the team, but I can be annoyed with how we're playing on offense despite that.

Are you sure they aren't concerned?  Some of the Seattle fans in the game were crying bloody murder at how conservative they were playing on offense.

no, it's win convincingly and having built up enough of a cushion on the scoreboard that you don't have to worry about the other team miraculously coming back in the last few minutes and scoring enough to beat you. if we think that all we need to do is put just enough points on the board to squeak by with a win and that we can absolutely totally depend on our defense to be perfect in the last minutes and protect a close lead we're asking for trouble.

I will admit to still having a lot of reservations about both Rivera and Shula, but let's not throw the season away after week 1. Let things play out for a couple more games and then make a more educated assessment of where we are and what is needed going forward.

i dont feel like making a thread about this so ill just post here

 

apparently brady bobbled/lost a snap at the 1 yard line which robbed the pats of a touchdown. then ridley fumbled, untouched, in the redzone as well and the bills picked it up and ran it back for a TD.

 

so it seems like mistakes brought upon themselves kept buffalo in the game as opposed to buffalo really playing that well. optimism???

it's more a matter of needing to have an offense that can pile on points and get a 14 + point lead just on a long history of having a lead into the 4th only to choke. 

 

this team finds ways to lose and then make excuses. getting a solid point cushion would help correct that. if we want to win games, score more points.

So you're saying that you will have confidence in the offense, no matter how many points it scores?  I disagree.  I'll be happy the team is winning but the original question seemed to be related to the offense building confidence in it, so that is how I responded.  I'm happy to win any way I can, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be confident in our offense.

Then my simple answer is yes, I have confidence in our offense. The reason why is because we've seen them perform at a high level for the last two years. Unless Shula is a total fug up (which is entirely possible), we should be able to generate enough points to win.

 

Average to good ST's, along with what I believe will be a top 10 defense, should give us the balance in all 3 phases to be a decent team. If not, then I'll go back to calling for Rivera's head and questioning his sanity in hiring Shula as OC.
