First year we flung it out Down field and had Cam running all over the place, last year we tried hocus pocus, so far this year we are two yards and a cloud of dust. Team needs to decide what and who they want to be and stick to it.Cant be a jack of all trades and masters of none.Opinions?

Gettleman's got his finger on the "Fire Ron" button, just waiting to use it. He's not blind.

Why do you think he didn't use all this new found cap space on more short term, win now options? He's waiting to get his guy in here. Then we will have more of an identity.

Until then, we're running with spare parts and chewing gum (Read: Shula).

. This x100. Gettleman is giving Ron and staff a fair shot at winning, that being said, a new GM is gonna want to bring his own guy in sooner rather than later. Perry Fewell is a guy that comes to mind.

We have one hell of a defense. That is clearly this teams identity.

As far as offense goes, we are one fumble away from many of us saying "It wasn't the most exciting offense but damnit Shula executed one hell of a game plan, committing to the run when Seattle had a decimated defensive line, and avoiding deep balls to LaFell and others when facing one of the league's best cover corners and a secondary that excels at creating turnovers."

  • Cam was accurate (70% completion)
  • We converted 45.4% of third downs (which would have ranked 2nd in the league last year)
  • We consistently gained yardage in the run game, averaging 4.96 yards per carry with a longest run of just 16 yards (so the average isn't skewed heavily by a single big play)
  • Yes, Sherman shut down LaFell, so he was absent from the game. He also shut down Fitz, Megatron, and Dez Bryant last year, holding each of them to three or fewer catches each and just 2, 46, and 17 yards, respectively.

All that being said, I'm not concerned about Shula's approach to Seattle, but my biggest concern is that poor coaching (Ron and his apparent inability to make the right call at decisive moments) becomes our identity.

No we're not. Stop saying we are.

We didn't have an identity last year. Against Seattle we had a run first, take what the defense gives you offense. One that limits potential mistakes. Unfortunately we lost because a very sure handed RB fumbled and a bonehead special teams gaffe by the bullet head. Shula called a good game, we had the right game plan. I hope we stick to it, it gives us the best chance to win

smash, kill, destroy on defense.

on offense....don't screw up....even though we have the most dynamic QB in the league, the new prototype who has had the most successful first two years of any QB ever...king of the big plays and we either pigeonhole him into a game manager role or so damage his confidence that all he's concerned with is not making a mistake. either way...meh. we better see something different next week or plan on yet another non-winning season full of excuses.

Deangelo NEVER fumbles.

Except for the time earlier in the game where he fumbled.
