On Cam's near interception

Cam passed 70%, not enough yards, and we lost.

 

I'm not a huge fan of "statistics", but rather on production. Stats don't lie, but it doesnt always tell everything.

 

We can talked all day about Cam's incredible passing percentage (70%), but he didn't make enough plays Sunday to win us the game. If we just wanted to look at stats wise, Matt Schaub has a better career passing completion of 64.5% compared to the 3x Super Bowl Champion QB Tom Brady's 63.7%. Does that make Schaub a better and more accurate passer than Brady? No way. We cant tell if a QB is completing his passes by making easy dump offs/check downs to the RBs or whatever by just reading statistics.

 

At the end of the day, it all comes down to who makes bigger plays to help his team win games. I am going to make the Newton/Kaepernick comparison all day long, bc those two are so much similar as a QB. The only differences is Kaepernick is a bigger threat as a game changer and a better pocket presence than Cam as of right now. Carolina's fans can cry and sulk all they want about Kaepernick thriving bc of Harbaugh compared to Cam with Rivera's. Fans need to face the reality that Kaep is a much better QB than Cam atm. The only place you'll find people arguing that Cam is better than Kaep is in the Carolinas.

 

Last Sunday, we probably played a tougher Defense with Seattle than Kaep with GB, but that doesnt mean poo. Kaep stand tall in the pocket and picked that GB defense apart for 400+ yards and 3 tds like a veteran QB who have done it for years. Cam on the other hand looked like he was forced to be "one dimensional" without the read-option.

 

I dont care about how many yards Cam throw for, run for, or with a 120% passer rating. If he doesnt make enough winning plays for us with his arm rather than his legs this year, we won't see the Playoffs anytime soon.

I love Kaep. I think he is awesome. I also praised RG3 last season. I love Russell Wilson and think he is a special guy.

The only two guys I don't gush praise on yet is Luck and Dalton.

But Cam had a good game and we played all in all a good game Sunday. We did enough to win but we didn't. That sucks and is getting old to lose these games, but it is still true.

Bc imo my "feels" are correct. If you guys will just quit being homers and blinding yourself with all these records Cam broke instead of facing the fact that Cam cant win under pressures then yall see the truths. Go ask another fan base other than here, and see what they think of Cam and what he lacks as a QB. Cam have not win a big time game here in a Carolina uniform other than beating a 5th round rookie QB and the Houston Texans without their DC (Phillips) in 2011.

 

If Cam's upside is higher, how come he hasnt reach that point yet after two years? Kaep was a much rawer QB than Cam coming out and he played under a full time read-option system at Nevada compared to Cam at Auburn. Let's quit assuming that Cam has the higher upside. Kaep does and he has shown that at this point in time, he is a greater passer than Cam.

 

My prediction is, if Cam doesn't manage to throw for at least "24 TD" passes this season, we're all going to be watching the Playoffs without the Carolina Panthers again. Cam ran for 22 totals TDs his first two seasons and he managed to win us 13 games. Assuming that we do go with less of the read-option throughout this season, I would assume it'd be pretty tough for Cam to come close to what he had last season (8 rushing tds). If that passing td category doesnt increase drastically for Cam, we wont have nothing to cheer for after week 17.

I got the impression that this play is designed to go to 89 and he is actually staring down the MLB, He locks onto smith after he passes behind #54. The throw is behind Smith and that is why it's a near pick, plain and simple to me..

Things I notice ...

 

3 defenders on the right with 2 options. 2 defenders on the left with 2 receivers.

 

A) Smitty is not open. He is covered up pretty well by the DB. The underneath taken away by the linebacker.

 

B ) Ginn, hidden behind fox logo, is open and looking for the ball. He ran a great route and got the needed separation.

 

C) Lafell apparently is neither open nor looking for the ball.

 

D) Pretty decent pass protection, except for Bell.

 

 

Watching the play, Cam never takes his eyes off Smith, sadly.

1) Kaep needed more refinement than Cam, despite having played in MAC his entire college career compared to Cam who played a year of ...poo D5? and then started at AU and won a national title. Ya know what, I'll even concede this point and agree Kaep needed more work, because the rest is so stupid I don't need this...

 

. 2)Cam's offense at Auburn wasn't a read-options system, I suppose it was some magical fuging unicorn offense that looked exactly like the read-option. Instead of the Read-Option  maybe it was the Illiterate-NoAnswer 

 

3)Lets just drop the idea that Cam had more upside, because it goes against everything ever written about him

 

4) In Kaeps 7-8 games he has obviously shown more than Cam's 32 games so we should just ignore any effects having a QB guru for a coach has likely helped Kaep and ignore that Cam's best teacher was likely George Whitfield and Don Shula's fugtard son.
