Help Wanted: Second Receiver

Zod

Recommended Posts

A qb has an initial read if that guy is open you throw him the ball. That's what got Cam into trouble last year, not taking the open throw and holding the ball too long looking for the big play.

How many times did we hear that last year? Cam holds the ball too long he had insert receiver here open underneath. Now he does that and he's getting blamed for not taking shots.

There are no perfect qbs people.

Aaron Rodgers has made his receivers better. So has Payton, stop it with this. You've seen how good Austin Collie is now, Dallas Clark, etc.

Collie is done because of injuries and Clark is old. but Clark in his prime, was a good TE hence him getting drafted in the 1st round. Payton and Aaron are great QBs but, the weapons they had on the outside where 1st,2nd, and 3rd rounders and it shows. I cannot help you see how good a WR is. Jordy Nelson is one of the best route runners, and so is Welker. Thomas is a HUGE target that has 4.3 speed, and Cobb is guy who looks like Smitty 8 years ago. plus Decker is very underrated but is a decent #2 WR who has sure hands. James Jones led the league in TD receptions, but he sucks and its all on Aaron?

im not going to even discuss the likes of Jennings, Harrison, Driver or Wayne since those are also WRs that played for them guys.

Greg Jennings was good with Favre, he's null in void. Cobb was a punt returner for GB his first year, Aaron has made him solid. Welker was an undrafted free agent pick up by New England, he also had another great QB throwing him the ball. Who was Decker with The Golden Calf of Bristol? Orton? I'll wait, he was NOBODY. Thomas is solid, I won't lie. He helped The Golden Calf of Bristol out a ton. Jordy has been a solid pick up, but a 2nd rounder. James Jones is a damn 3rd rounder dude IN 2007! What did he do before Rodgers took the rains what was he doing? Oh getting a stellar 2 TDs with Favre? Nice! So in essence, those teams did develop those guys. But to say they haven't gotten better with the acquiring of Rodgers, and Manning. Is a but ignorant. To make matters worse, lets not include Brady in this discussion.

Yeah because Nelson was a beast before Rodgers right? And Decker? He was good too right? How about no, sir. Cobb was a damn return specialist without Rodgers, good try though boss. Good try.

Eric Decker was arguably *better* with Orton and The Golden Calf of Bristol than Thomas was.

Yu're also missing the fact that both Nelson and Cobb were second round picks, hey were considered good WRs.

But, if Payton, Rodgers and Brady make their WRs stand out

why do the Patriots have so much trouble with WRs?

why did Rodgers struggle a bit more when Nelson was out?

But if you're going to sit here and tell me we'd be in the same situation if we had either one of those Duos of WRs and that LaFell and Ginn would be tearing it up else where well,

Yeah just like how Peyton Manning made Pierre Garcon and then he stunk it up with Curtis Painter and then bolted to Washington where he's currently stinking it up with RGIII

Wait a minute...

To be fair, Garçon is an okay receiver. He is their number 1 receiver, so I would hope he plays well. Speaking of that, Brees has made receivers good too. Look at Meachem now. Geez.

Players are what they are based upon their talent, ability, environment and preparation. No one can make you good if you're poo, and if you're JAG, you may have moments of greatness, but never be consistently great unless you have the talent and all the aforementioned things come together.

I will admit that a QB can bring out the best in a WR by demanding excellence in regards to route running and catching the damned ball, but you can't change water into wine unless you're Jesus.

This team needs to start running the ball well again and it will fix a lot of things... including the passing game. When is the last time one of our backs rushed for 100+ yards a game? Williams had 86 yards vs. Seattle. Not terrible. Williams hasn't rushed for a thousand yards since 2009. Jonathan Stewart, I believe is the same.
