Help Wanted: Second Receiver

Did we have a shot at Anquan Boldin in the offseason?  I can't recall if he was traded to the Niners or was a FA acquisition?  Either way, that dude would be a solid #2.  Big target, good hands, runs strong routes, gets YAC, and has an attitude close to Smitty's.

Would have liked to have him.

He was traded....a little inter-family trade between the Harbaugh brothers.

Seemed to me if ya weren't Smith or Olsen, Cam wasn't looking for you.

Add that we were playing against a two deep zone,

the Panthers chose not to test it often.

yeah, bc we should of tested LaFell against Sherman/Thomas?

We schemed LaFell out to help 89 largely.

It didn't matter to Russell Wilson who they put on the field, he threw to 9 different guys!

Could it have been that he was passing so much because we shut down Lynch? Nah, couldn't be. Even with all that, we were a fumble away from likely beating a former playoff team with arguably the best defense in the league.

Clever little signature you have there after only one game. Obvious troll account is obvious.

You may have suspected, as we all did, but the proof for this 2013 squad was not provided until Sunday.

That's ludicrous.  There are people who have been standing on the corner with a bullhorn for years now about our lackluster receiving corps.  It is piecemeal: An aging Smitty trying his best to hang with the young up and coming studs of the day, and a bunch of WR3/4s that may not even be starting on more than a few rosters in the league.

The ONLY thing that is going to save our offense through the air from being the same old broken-winged pass offense that it has been is a receiver who has historically questionable oven mitts, Ted Ginn.

Everyone is buhaha-ing over the OL, and think we ought to make that a priority in the draft, well I believe that we ought to pick lineman up in FA and double or triple dip for some wide-outs in the draft.

The inability to secure a legitimate playmaker in the receiving corps after all these years is beyond ridiculous, period.

You have to send ginn downfield regardless if he is a top flight WR or not. He is all we have to stretch the field (besides Smitty who is getting older by the week, probably losing a step or two) we have to at least pose the threat, he may even become a legit threat if we put him to the test.this being candy ass scared to stretch the D is bogus. Sure he hasn't been reliable in the past for other teams, but we have to try.If we don't,this offense is done.

We don't need another friggin receiver. We need Newton to look for somebody other than SS and some play calling with more 3-4 receiver sets and routes down the field.

His only options were Smith, Olsen and then the guy matched up on Sherman (the best CB in the game)....just about every snap. Or the check down if there was one.

He played it smart. If our team had been smart that formula would have gotten us a win against one of the best teams in the NFL
