Anyone else notice a couple of things in this current Skins vs Eagles game?

So.... just got my Sprtscenter update that sends alerts to my phone.

 

It said and I quote:

 

"Redskins QB Robert Griffin III 329 passing yards, 2 TDS,, 2 INTS, 24 rush yds in 33-27 loss to Eagles"

 

SMH.  Dude plays terrible and the alert is only about him and his garbage time stats in an asswhooping.

Eagles just held on to win after getting that huge lead, why do i think we would have blew this game?? smh

 

We beat the Skins soundly last year and they had a healthy Robert Griffin.  We would have only blew this game if it were the Chiefs or somebody we should beat easily.

If you are talking about the Texans game then I totally agree...these dingdongs sound half asleep and very un-enthused.

I think he ran about a 4.5. Here's Cam, RG3 and Luck for comparison. Vick is about on par with RG3 imo.

RGIII is faster....but that 40 is going to give an elite track guy a huge edge. NFL game, the track kid's speed comes down some. So much of the 40 is technique.

Vick in his prime IMO is faster tha. RGIII on a football field.

This definitely aint no "rust" eagles have a gameplan. They have been spying him all night so he cant run, first thing they did was focus in on Morris and took him out the equation cuz he is the work horse and forced Griiffin to throw which he cant really do without the playaction. A year worth a film has helped like everyone said. Skins running the exact same offense as last year, if they dont change things up its gonna be a long season.

Griffin can't throw with out all the fakes and misdirection. 

 

Not a good QB from the pocket making multiple reads and straight throws.

No this is not a- I wish Chip Kelly was our HC- thread. But I admire offensive minds that know how to manipulate formations.

 

 

The Eagles have what I like to call the older more fragile version of Cam Newton in Michael Vick. I just kept imagining Cam in those situations. What would happen if we ran that type of play and up tempo offense? Shula does not strike me as a ballsy signal caller, Zod knows. In the first game he showed some really good play calling for the most part. It is a learning process for him no doubt, I just hope he is a fast learner and is taking notes from our game against the Seahawks and maybe even taking notes on this game. Cam is the ultimate weapon. Use him correctly please.

 

 

The second thing I noticed that really makes me abhor ESPN, is that RG3 is sucking it up so bad, that they never mention him and sophomore slump in the same sentence. He is ¨Rusty¨.  Right, because he is immune to a sophomore slump right? ESPN makes me sick.

Any coach would be better than Ron Rivera coaching Cam Newton and this offense (not saying Shula sucks yet. Just Rivera's portion as head coach and his decision making).

The thing is, coaches can get better at their jobs just like any other profession. Jim Caldwell recruited me to play at Wake Forest, and this was after he pulled a coup and got C.J. Leak to sign with him instead of Notre Dame. His playcalling got that kid murderlized. Then he went and struggled at first in Indy. Then he had success there. Now look at the success he had with Baltimore in the playoffs.

People get mad because some Panther fans are always ready to fap over the league's new toy. It was the same way when we didn't try and get Spurrier or Saban to be our coach. Now they are coaching college again. Let Kelly coach more than one half of one game in one season before annointing him the next dynasty coach in the league. Hell, there was even a post about how Cam is going to join him in two years. That is why people say shite like "least knowledgeable" in football.

Yeah, but for the ones who are knowledgeable, you have to know the ones making such claims about Cam are the minority fringe of our fanbase and can't be taken seriously. Every fanbase has their idiots, and we're no exception. Those are the type of topics that get locked, and if it's just a post, those guys typically end up being banned after they reveal themselves as trolls just looking to get a rise out of people. That by no means constitutes the majority of our fanbase.

That being said, regarding your point about coaches getting better, that is exactly what the majority of posters here are now popping off about... We have seen Rivera for 2 plus years now, and he has shown absolutely no improvement. He struggles with the smallest of tasks in every aspect of gameday management and decision making, as he always has. I knew about halfway through year two, but sensed he wasn't cut out for it in year one, but he got the benefit of the doubt. Some of the same posters who got pissy with me when I criticized Rivera early on have now reached that same point of exhaustion as well. The guy has been given ample time to prove himself, and to this point, nothing has changed.

So, now the fanbase is clamoring for change. They know Rivera is who he is. Naturally, once people realize he isn't the answer, people want to point out who we could've had while we were busy wasting time on a guy who illustrated his ineptitude as a head coach long ago. So guys like Harbaugh (who we could've had as we had a HC vacancy at the time of his hire) and Kelly (who we should've explored as an option because Rivera showed no signs of improvement in year two) come up.

Many, including myself advocated for Harbaugh while he was still at Stanford. He's now been coaching as long as Rivera and its pretty clear who the winner is there.

Coaches can and do improve, as you said, but most are looking forward to who else is out there and who we could've had because of the disappointment Rivera has been.

I have a ton of faith in Gettles ability to evaluate talent.

 

I am worried as poo about him during our next coaching search.

 

Although, there is no evidence that he won't make a good hire, it is the one thing that worries me, that he won't be able to adjust to the times and will be looking for coaches with a style from 10 years ago instead of 10 years from now.

Playing this conservative style is going to keep the game close. The problem is Rivera and Co. always find a way to blow it. Nothing is wrong with picking up the pace and throwing the ball down field. Cam throws a great deep ball. It would make to much sense to play to his strengths I guess. Even Rivera said in his presser the offense was probably too conservative.
