I hate these seemingly over-reactive threads, but...perhaps we need to change the OC, right now.

MadHatter comes into to every thread making zero sense and calling everyone else idiots for not agreeing with him.

Zero Sense?

I guess it makes no sense when you can watch Cam make the same mental mistakes game in and game out.

I guess you guys make more sense by blaming anyone and everyone on the team....except for Cam.

I'm still waiting to see all these people that supposedly say Cam is completely free of any blame whatsoever. Where are they?

The only idiot here is you. If everybody can see the issue (including Cam's critics) then it's clearly the playcalling -- a tale of two halves. Shula failed to adjust to the blitz packages. After doing the math, Cam had averages of 1.9 to 2.1 to get rid of the ball virtually every time he dropped back. What did we do to compensate for Arizona's aggressiveness? Nothing.

It was not Shula who failed to adjust.

It was Cam Newton who failed to adjust.

When Newton sees the blitz coming, he is free to audible out of whatever play Shula called.

Ultimately, at least 90% of whatever play is run is the choice of the QB.

He can go to a quick "hot read" type play virtually any time he chooses.

This is why 'huggers who have been complaining about the "slow developing pass plays" supposedly called by Shula are so misguided.

When you constantly complain about the play calling, ultimately you are indicting Cam Newton. You just don't know it.

Oh, and by the way, you had better fix your stop watch.

Could it be that everyone is a little bit right.

There are certain things that Newton does well...there are things he needs to improve on...but there are other facts as well, calling routes over 15 yards with a rush that is not being contained is not exactly the smartest approach, agree,

so maybe the OC could see the conditions and call delays, screens, short and quick passes with two - step drops from under center, yes under center to help out is QB and if not under center, you get the idea.

We all want the Panthers to succeed, and they aren't so someone must pay.

In another thread I said what I feel, Newton is a shadow of his old self this year...and what has changed. The OC is what has changed along with issues on the OL....does he hold the ball too long, I don't know, I didn't look at film, in some cases i'm sure he did, in other cases, maybe the play calling could have been better.

My feeling, this team needs to simplify and find 5 plays it can execute with high probability to move the chains until things settle down...and they get in sync...and with new pieces on the Oline, right now, they do not feel they have one play they can execute.

PS Hatter's a good guy, leave him alone.

I have no problem with the play calling by Shula but I have a HUGE problem with the offense we're running. Cam is the ultimate spread QB and for us to not spread the field at all times and run an up-tempo offense with Cam as a running threat is rediculous. If Vick can have the success he's having then Cam could thrive in that offense over in Philly. The reason we drafted Cam is because he is a huge running threat, not because he can stand in the pocket all day and throw, its like Cam is starting all over in his development. Cam needs to be able to run the read option, the inverted veer and other types of runs he ran in college way more than he is. It is so frustrating seeing these offenses do so well when I know we could be so much better if we did the same, not as well as others, but certainly better.

Cam is an athlete trying to play QB....come back and talk to me in a couple of seasons when he is done.

Kaep, Cam, RGIII....all were supposed to revolutionize the game.  Yet, all are struggling this season.  A QB wins from the pocket....with their decision making...not running around.

Cam was successful before the NFL because he was by far the best athlete on the field....and it showed.  In the NFL, a QB wins with decision making.

Cam may or may not be the answer, but this thread is about Shula. How you can poo on Cam on one hand, but support Shula on the other is a mystery...No, it's bullshit.  Shula doesn't have the skills necessary to be an effective OC in the NFL, and his record is very indicative of that fact.

Point is we drafted Cam as a franchise QB. We need to hire coaches that build around him and his strengths. Shula doesn't, plain and simple. Utilize strengths because if you don't the only thing we'll have left is glaring weaknesses.

Shula obviously is stubborn and wishes to scheme his way - thus not adapting his plan to utilize the strengths of our offense and QB.
