It sound rediculous when you look at Russell's stats to say this but our secondary wasn't as bad yesterday as we think.

Russell Wilson was harassed all day but he extended plays with his feet and if a guy does that eventually guys are going to get open. Several plays Russell did not have an open guy initially but was able to scramble around and he is so accurate on the run that he was able to make plays.

 

Can Cam not do the same thing?

Yes, although Cam is not as good as Russell at throwing on the run.  But he can and he has before.  We did a pretty good job of not putting ourselves in to many clear passing situations yesterday.

 

Seattle had NO run game.  We shut that down, so Wilson had to throw, he did more often, and gave his receivers time to get open and made great accurate throws on the run.

 

I am just saying our secondary wasn't as bad as many of us think they were yesterday.  that doesn't mean they were awesome yesterday, but they played better than the numbers suggest

So was captain getting beat like a drum or was that the zone breaking down because of Wilson buying time.......i saw on a couple plays cap jump the route but the receiver moved over a bit and made a decent gain, pretty sure on one of tates big gains that's exactly what happened him and one of our lb jumped a curl route but the receiver slid over and made the catch and run.....not making excuse for cap just curious

To be honest, no I don't think he can.  Wilson is much more "slippery" and throws an amazing pass on the run.  Cam is better than 90% of the league at this but I think Wilson probably throws the best pass on the run out of anyone (including Rodgers).  Probably stems from his time as a SS in baseball.

Uhh..if you read the rest of the thread you'll see where I said I see what that play was supposed to do after hearing the press conference.

That said our secondary had tons of vacancies on the field yesterday....

Better be more worried about Rivera's answer because if last year and last game are any indication...we're fuged.

Just watched it, from what I hear though, he's right, stupid penalties and a missed assignment here or there.  Captain should only play the slot, why McDermott continues to put him on the outside, I have no clue.

they are expecting something they aren't going to get, The panthers don't want him to say something that may hurt ticket sales, seriously what he says in public is only what the panthers PR people say is ok to say, behind closed doors is a different story all together.

It's like all the years John Fox was here, I could still probably do one of his press conferences but you would hear that in the locker room he was fire and brimstone. Press conferences doesn't make a coach good or bad (RR and BB in the AFCE for example) it's just something that the fans bitch about because they can like little babies.

I came into this thread looking for what was said and all I ended up seeing was a bunch of crybabies with hurt feelings.

I was listening to the radio broadcast during both of those plays.On the first play, as it was happening they were pointing out Thomas getting beat before the throw was even made.  They then said that if the Panthers want to play man to man Thomas needs to step it up because they would go after him again. Sure enough that is what happened, they also said immediately after the TD that it was all on Thomas getting flat out beat again and Godfrey was not supposed to be there it help him in that situation.

 

Take that for what it's worth, but it sure seemed like they knew what they were seeing.

I heard Dre Bly discuss it this AM and he too thought it was on Thomas for the same reasons.Single saftey deep should react to the qb

it was Thomas fault. you are asking to much for your S to make a play if you allow that man to release to the outside and go up the sideline, and expect him to stay over top.

The fact that they ran the same play is telling. Somebody on the Seahawks must have been yelling "SAME PLAY SAME PLAY!!!"
