The Russell Wilson mini-Hail Mary

This was probably the most deflating play of the game for me, outside of the Dwill fumble.

I still don't understand how that ball wasn't intercepted or at least batted down.

For those that missed it, I believe it was third down and we had Wilson dead to rights about 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage.  Wilson basically closes his eyes and throws up a high arching, lofting 30 yard pass that seemed to hang in the air for 1 minute.

Somehow, a Seahawk player comes up with the catch while falling out of bounds.  They went down to score a field goal.

So what would you chalk this play up to?

Shoddy secondary play?

Great execution by Wilson, on a designed "scramble" drill pass?

Absolute pure luck?

I'm going with a lot of luck mixed in with bad secondary play.  You've got to at least knock that ball down.

It's the kind of play the Panthers have not had the past 3 seasons.  When was the last time we had a 50/50 big play go our way?

Luck.

It would be luck if it were a one time thing, but that kid makes those throws all the time.

Hardy and Johnson absolutely leveled him as he threw it. Wilson went completely horizontal in mid air.

Insane play, but its not luck.

the spirit of Haruki Nakamura lives on... only this time its shorter. This ultimately blew the game seriously. Even more the media is overlooking our dominance as if we got handles. THAT pisses me off! NO MORE MINI DBS PLLEEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEE!

    • Because being a pauper in the NFL is still making a king's ransom. NFL vet min is roughly 18x the median salary in the U.S.
    • At some point I sense it's gonna create some hate and locker room cancer between these cap hogs and the rest of the players. When the top 6 or 7 players take 80% of the cap, the other 40 plus guys are gonna get pissed off, especially when they're still only winning 5 or 6 games. Why put everything on the line to play with guys who are only in it for themselves?
    • I am just spitballing here--let it play out and I will go to bed: Let's say Mahome's contract comes due and he insists on $100m per season.  Is there a team that would find the money to pay it?  Would KC? It was in 2015 (I think) when Cam was getting $20m and it was hard to grasp.  In the past decade, the price of a franchise QB has tripled.  Then the next QB bases his contract on the Mahomes deal.  The trend has been the last QB contract is the highest.  I see nothing to discourage that trend--Greed can destroy a league.  Personally, I don't watch baseball any more, and the NBA has a small group of about 8 teams that appear on national TV and they have players who make more than some eastern block countries.  Ticket prices go up---and we are headed for pay-per-view very soon across the board-
