Mike Tanier (Football Outsiders) weighs in

An open forum implies there is no rules.

Zod specifically said no WTF, Fire Rivera, etc... threads.

Now we have a bunch of 35 year old guys who think they can coach because they were a decent high school player.

There are some guys that clearly have a background in football and make solid posts, but for every one of those guys there are five guys who think they are better than Coach Rivera.

It's time to stop living in a fantasy land, you are a fan not a coach.

Life becomes much more enjoyable when you get the opportunity to just be a fan.

I had the opportunity to work with a coaching football staff last year and it is one of the most stressful things ever. I missed the majority of Panthers and CFB games because I had to input stats and go over film from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the weekends and then 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. (after class) on weekdays.

People on this forum really don't understand what all goes into coaching at the college or pro level. I didn't even do 1/4 of what Rivera has to do and I believe coaching is one of the hardest jobs that there is.

I don't even begin to understand Nuclear Physics. The amount of brain power and work to keep one nuclear power station up and running is light years above me and my petty understandings.

That doesn't mean I can't honestly tell you Fukushima was a cock up of magnificent proportions.

Just cause your job's hard or requires a lot of work doesn't exempt you from criticism.

Oh and also you said life gets more enjoyable when you get the opportunity to just be a fan.

Ever think some of us enjoy the fan side, and the analysis side of things?  Like I said you're entitled to your opinion about what people should and shouldn't do, but that doesn't make you right, or the authority on what proper fan behavior is.

Go ahead and bitch.  You have 80 minutes left on the 24 hr clock.  Then can we talk about something worthwhile instead of the same old crap from folks who clearly don't have a clue.  That's it I said it.  If you think that yesterday was the same old thing from last year you don't have a clue.  If you think this offense is worse than what we saw with Chud for the first 8 games, you don't have a clue.  If you think Cam was the problem. you don't have a clue.  If you think Shula called a bad game because we got stuffed on one 3rd and 1, you don't have a clue. (besides you are ignoring we had a 3rd and 1 later on and made it).

This was one game with gameplanning against Seattle nothing more.  If you think this is how we will play against every team, you don't have a clue.

In with 70 minutes left.

You're just adorable when your defense mechanisms kick in.

And exactly what defense mechanism am I using,  Be careful my field is psychology and I am intimately familiar with Freud's defense mechanism theory.  Anna Freud not Sigmund although layman confuse the two. Google and research first so you don't look like a fool........

This haughty "you people just don't know football" card you almost always ultimately play.

And who still honestly follows Freudian psychology other than for historical research?

I also heard on ESPN that Seattle held Newton to a career low in passing yards.  It is all in your perspective.  Shouldn't predictable off tackle plays get you one yard? Was it the 34 yard line of Seattle?  If so then why didn't we kick a field goal instead of punting.  Had to be further back.  I was at the game so I had a different perspective.  Seems much of the criticism is pretty harsh at this point.  Would it have been better if we scored 30 and lost 31 to 30?

ESPN is going to pump up anything that makes Cam look bad.

Did they actually hold him to an career low passing or was it the coaching staff not unleashing Cam? Which is why I agree with you. It's all a "matter of perspective" and agenda.

Anybody who watched that game had to feel like we were back in last season again. After Deangelo fumbled everyone knew it was over.

Again the defense needs to stop getting a pass. This team was built to win defensive power struggles. If you have to win the game 7-6 then so be it but an elite defense does just that. No excuse for not getting the ball back for your offense at the end of that game. If your Defense isn't going to win these battles it's time to start getting Cam some damn weapons and let him go out there and win it.

1. Defensive minded coach

2. Defense driven drafts

3. Conservative play style geared again towards defense holding tight.

Yet again the defense couldn't get off the field at the end of the game. This defense is good UNTIL they need to get a stop and they can't get it.

It's time to get Cam some damn weapons and let him fuging play. Unleash fuging Cam I'm sick of this poo man.

Ron Rivera is never going to make Cam Newton a better Quarterback he can't he doesn't know how.

Are you ACTUALLY trying to blame this losss on the defense?  That is beyond laughable.

They held the Seahawks to 13 pts and 1 TD.  The offense could not stay on the field and could not muster more than 7 lousy points.

Cam and the offense could not get any rhythm yesterday.  And it was a combination of playcalling AND execution.

our defense is insane i don't know how anybody could possibly point at that. They were attacking Seattle and murdering RW. he threw up prayer passes all day long.

It was like watching hungry wolves attack a baby lamb. we should be very excited if they continue this because not everybody is RW

The defense should not get the blame.

But if not for the costly drops and fumbles, our offense should have dropped at least 14 on them.

Let's also not forget the possession that we had taken away by that idiotic special teams fumble.

That is not a defense mechanism.  Sorry.

And people still think that Anna Freud was right on with her expansion of her father's work.  Clearly this is another area you know little about.
