When can we blame Cam?

Nothing Cam did today directly cost us the game. The offense I do feel has to be put on training wheels because of Cam's accuracy issues.

Ok I take it back, he didn't have a fine game, yet we were in position to win.

 

Wilson was very lucky at times in that game, and also had the luxury of facing our worn out defense in the 4th. I do agree that Wilson had a better game.

 

I want to say its luck but sadly I cant. Wilson has been doing that (miracle throws and escapes etc) his whole career. 

 

I know first hand as a UNC fan having watch Wilson play at State.

First off I completely agree with the second paragraph about moving within the pocket.

But the first paragraph is exactly what I was talking about in my Peyton Manning parody thread.

Having only 3-5 passes off is actually a good fugging day. Especially if one of those "off" passes actually hit the receiver in the hands.

 

Well missing 5 passes of 35 is better than missing 5 passes of 23. But this is really about expectations. Do you expect Cam to be a good NFL QB? Well he already is. Do you want him to be elite? Then he needs to improve. Moral victories are becoming a theme here. Playing well against good teams isn't good enough. We need to beat them. But I don't even blame Cam for the loss. I thought he played his role well. You can acknowledge someone missed a few throws without blaming him for the loss.

Cam would have around 6-7 4th quarter come back wins if it wasn't for the defense blowing a late lead. Today would have been another one of those comeback games if Dwill holds onto the ball or Olsen hangs onto those two passes he dropped.... or if the ST didn't make three horrible mistakes in this game.

 

 

Non of this is on Cam Newton, he played the game perfectly against Seattle's defense and the Panther's were winning the TOP battle for most of the game. 

 

 

Let's break this down, 

 

Dwill makes two mistakes, one being a dagger late in the game inside the 10. 

Special Teams makes three mistakes that cost the Panther's a possession and 20 yards. 

Olsen has two drive killing drops and another in the redzone. 

Late in the game, the Defense made critical mistake after mistake leading to a Touchdown for Seattle to take the lead.

 

On the flip side, If Olsen catches those two catches..Cam would have been 18/23 "78%" for 150 passing against the best secondary in the NFL. 

 

 

In no way shape or form was this Cam Newton's fault.

I can go and watch any game with any QB in the NFL and it will be the same. If 18 of your 23 passes were on target that is damn good.

You're right, he's Cam Newton. A QB with a high and fast release, a massive cannon, freaky athleticism for a 6'6ft 255lb specimen and monstrous horse-like calves and quads that send DBs and LBs flying backwards.

Not sure if id call 125 yards passing a fine game. Pretty paltry if you ask me and certainly was a factor in only scoring 7 points.

Nah I mean, maybe..idk why he made it. Cam's inability to perform in the clutch and inaccuracy as a passer has cost us...It may have cost us some aggressiveness in this game, if I were Shula, I would play foxball too, limit the throws Cam makes, because they are bad. Looking at this game under a microscope Cam did well, did he cause us to be conservative? I think so.
