I'm worried about Rivera

I'm so tired of the excuses. I'm tired of hearing "if the players would execute" or whatever. I feel like I've been hearing that for half a decade now. Rivera clearly has left an imprint on the D in some ways, but it seems like the team as a while just can't pull it out in close games that really matter.

Rivera never presents a face to the media that suggests he has something to prove. I'm not going to say that is how he is in the locker room. I get it, logically, we're a bad team and we should be happy with effort. But I don't like hearing a coach say that, no matter how true it may be, no matter what he may be saying behind closed doors.

Go into games expecting to win, and get angry when you lose... Meh.

Good points Mav. And this is what has really irritated me beyond comprehension for the last several years - the point about us being a bad team.

I got roasted last season for making a thread blasting Rivera for the bad start last season as well, and all i got was how we lost to a good team, we're not ready yet, it's only one game, the season isn't over, we're young and still learning, blah blah blah...

That's the problem with "bad teams," or more apropos, a bad franchise. They condition their fan base to accept the bare mininum. To be okay with being mediocre. "Hey, you should be thankful, only 32 cities have a pro football team and you're one of them!" Its b.s. and Rivera embodies this crap.

Bad teams don't suddenly become good teams by accepting you lost to a "better team." You're never going to ascend if you don't start expecting more of yourself. You don't become a good team by entering a season thinking, "well, they were a playoff team last year, they're better than us by that standard, no one should've expected us to win so we're okay with letting this one go." That is a complete loser mentality.

Winners EXPECT to win every game. Why? Because every game counts. But, that is what our front office fails to understand. A winning franchise would've canned Rivera long ago... but not us.

We will not improve until we bring in a staff that EXPECTS to win every game. We have to believe we are the best team taking the field instead of acquiescing as though we are lucky to be on the field with our opponent.

I'm so sick of that fuging pathetic approach by our franchise and a good deal of our wine and cheese fan base. The same idiots yelling "patience" have been saying it for 4 years, and again 4 years prior to that. Show me a winning culture that preaches patience as a core value... again, those are excuses losers make and I'm tired of hearing it.

Our franchise needs an enema.

The title of this thread is ridiculous. Nobody should be worried about RR- because once he is gone it'll be for the better. He obviously doesn't have what it takes to be a HC in this league- a DC but in no way whatsoever a HC. If you believed in this guy you got suckered by the late season wins that did not matter or you're willfully blind and foolishly optimistic.

How we lost, I do not care- this is another loss by less than seven under this guys belt- and he shrugs it off. What sucks is that we are stuck with this loser until he gets fired. I can't even have a good feeling about this year because he is our HC- which really sucks because this is Cam's third year and the defense is awesome. We are not going anywhere until he is gone. There is no way that he can reel of wins if we can the first half like the last two years with this years schedule. Gettleman needs to pick his own coach, and JR better let him and pay him because I can't see Gettleman accepting this kind of crap. Whether this happens will reveal a lot about this franchise, aside from what everyone says for/against JR.

Fangio/Shaw/Horton 2014; Keep McDermott, Skipper, other good coaches possibly (I credit McDermott for the improvement on D)

As far as what everyone is saying about our positional needs, as I have read elsewhere, they are obvious. We need a line to protect cam; he needs playmakers to catch the ball besides Smitty and Olsen (and he better start catching it); we need a secondary. Period.

If you wanna give me, "It's only the first game", or some other crap, I do not care. I have had enough of this- it's not acceptable.

Every game has meaning. To the fans, JR, and to the players who have invested their blood and sweat.  Gettleman is smart and if Ron can't get it done, then the G-man will start looking for someone who can get it done.  I thought Fox had lost it by holding on to players past their time, but he was still a good coach with experience.  Hurney didn't give him enough good players so he mailed it in his last year here.  Gettleman won't make this mistake.  Rivera is on the clock and its counting down.  If by the bye week its looks like a failed season, I see changes coming.  I hope I'm wrong for the players like Smitty who only has a little time left.  You see his passion by getting into the face of a player.  You didn't see Rivera do that. Why?

If you look at this game in a vacuum then it's actually quite promising. Of course, with our team's history it's a heartbreaking and an all too familiar feeling. Bottom line is we were in position to win the game and Dwill had a tough fumble on what seemed like a sure touchdown drive to win the game (if we stop Seattle on the next drive which I believe we would have with the momentum/adrenaline boost). So we can second guess Rivera all day but his gameplan had us poised to win against a potential superbowl team.

Just sat in the press conference. He just had a business as usual demeanor. It seemed he brushed the loss aside saying we lost to a good team, no biggie.

It should be up on Panthers.com soon. I hope I am just reading too much into it.

I thought starting threads like this would get you banned ??

Nice little bait and switch......." I' m worried about Ron"

You knew damn well this would turn into a "fire Riveria" thread.

He probably knows he's gone.  It wasn't all his fault but it was as big of a chunk as anyone else.  He probably knew with a new GM he'd have to show something.  He's riding the HC job as long as he can and next year he'll be someone's DC.  He's mailing it in.

Really makes no sense to me. He treid for so long to get the HC job, you think he would be doing all he can to keep it.

4th and short at midfield. Punt. That was the moment of defeat for me.

Funny thing is you can't tell which time I'm talking about.

I usually take 36-48 hours before I start spewing stupid on this board after a loss.

Decided to break that rule today.

This is exactly what I was thinking when this happened, RR is completely lost.
