I didn't come away from this game thinking Shula is terrible. We're playing low risk, low reward offense, along with tough Pittsburgh style defense. It's a continuation of Fox ball. The team has an uneven balance of more talent on defense than offense by design. If you're unhappy then you'll have to wait for JR to pass.

 

When you have two teams that are evenly matched the game usually comes down to two or three key plays. The Williams fumble cost us a win.

 

Did anyone else think our special teams coach should be canned? What the hell has he been teaching our special teams players?

 

Does Alexander have an untreated mental illness? I'm being serious.

play-calling was fine, too many drops and no sense of urgency is what killed me......if your gonna play like that your going to have a lot of 4th and inches,1,2,ect so either prepare to go for some of those or prepare the d fense to bail us out either one

This looked really familiar. I have been stressing for months that Shula's biggest issue as an OC was in game adjustments. Once the defense adjusts to what the offense is doing, it's difficult to score. It's just not his strong point.

Lets all hope this is just a one game letdown, because if its an indicator of what's to come its going to be a long season.

Rivera just said in the press conference they need to look and see what they did to stop our offense.

That idea is about 20 minutes of football too late.

Shula has nothing to do with this loss and Im not even a Shula guy.

He called a good game. He smartly decided not to fugg with their DBs that much after they were all over the bal on our 1st two drives.

The problem is personnel. Deangelo is not a feature bruiser type of RB, which was what this game needed. Shula didn't fumble the bal too. My only issue with Shula was giving the ball to Deangelo on 3rd and 1.

But I can tell you I thought I was in Tampa again.

 

How many bunch formations did they use in Tampa? Or called QB runs? Or backswide sweeps? We weren't playing the Saints D.

He is saying we lost to a playoff team, and that's not so bad.

 

I can't think of a worse response than "it was a bad day to have a bad day"...     actually, playoff situation, that's about as pathetic as it gets..

I call bullshit strawman argument here.  I didn't see Zod call for a home run every play. How many designed screens were run? like 1?  Where the fug was Olsen in the second half? How many times did we stretch the field, with Ginn? On and On. There were things that could have been done and weren't. I am in agreement with Zod on this one.

How many 3 and longs were we in? The only time we were backed up was a result of penalties...

The running game was getting 4 to 5 yards a pop, we were dinking and dunking them efficiently, the recievers can't drop passes in a close game like that, Seattle receivers were making difficult catches when Russell Wilson was under duress.

We only scored 7 because our running back fumbled in the red zone. We get a touchdown down there and we might could have sealed the deal.

Yes Thomas gave a long TD and it was early in the 4th. But at that time the D was getting tired from been out on the field for to long. The D and along with secondary played solid for most the game. But getting tired in the 4th is where they started giving up some chunks of yards. secondary is avg, but solid. Even the best of Ds start giving up yards in the 4th if they stay out on the field for a long time. Carolina gave up about 100 of those yards in the 4th when they was getting tired. So don't blame the D.

 

They were on the field for less then half the game up to that point and even with Seattle's last clock killing drive, they only had the ball for like 33-34 minutes. That's not a whole lot of time, about 4 minutes over half the game.....

Players lost this game. Dumb penalties, turnovers, and dropped passes. We were in a degensive battle and I felt like playing conservative was the correct decision based on our opponent. With that said Cam had plenty of drop backs, he either missed receivers or they were covered well. It's not like we ran the ball 3 times and punted.
