Even with the defense been on the field only half the game. It is still to much time on the field. Even a good D should only be on the field for about 15to20 mins game time. Beyond that they can get tired quick. And the heat can affect them as well at the end of the game. Again our D played very solid until the 4th when they started getting tired. Then big plays are given.

 

Avg NFL TOP for teams is around 30 minutes and against a run first team that goes up. Most defense are on the field for around 30 minutes a game. That shouldn't be a problem at all. 

 

The only games that have seen a defense on for less then 25 minutes have been when the offense gets close to the 400-500 yard mark.

There are some things I did not like about our offense this game. Not ready to bail on Shula yet. And I don't think he was the main issue today. But we need to adjust how we are using Cam ASAP although I thought Can had a really good game overall.

The fact that cam was effectively working the short game today is huge IMO

Most NFL games are close.  You rarely see spreads in Vegas over 10 points.  Also both teams controlled the ball.  I am not sure either teams had more than 7/8 possessions.

Cam is right and I have said it in EVERY thread so far...

 

WE took NO SHOTS DOWN FIELD!

We did, but Cam missed an open Lafell, and the other times we tried, the defense got a lot of pressure on Cam.  It's not like it was ignored, just that Seattle didn't allow it.

LOL... Cam completed 70% of the called passes.

 

He was, quote, ACCURATE, unquote.

 

You no read good. He had plenty of drop backs and he either missed receivers or had no one open. I didn't say his missed throws, which he did at least twice. We had 23 pass attempts and 25 rushing attempts, 4 of those rushing attempts were by cam. So maybe 2 or 3 of these were scrambles on designed pass plays. Throw in a sack and we had a very balanced offense. It's not like they handcuffed Cam. He had chances to make plays and couldn't find receivers. His accuracy was ok, not good enough but ok.

Not going for it at the half with 3 timeouts also with Seattle getting the ball back regardless... goddamn I'm pissed.

 

Me too.  30 seconds should be at least enough to get to field goal range with three timeouts and fuging Cam Newton as your QB.

I'm in the press conference right now. Rivera thinks they can get it fixed.

He is saying we lost to a playoff team, and that's not so bad.

 

And to be honest I must agree while people in the future will go to doom and gloom land, I saw a huge improvement on the D and was really pleased with it.

 

The offense was balanced which is what most of us wanted, the running game was acceptable and passed where well thrown if the WR or TE can't hold them it's not Shula's fault.

 

Overall I'm not happy with the loss but I'm pleased with what I saw from both sides of the field if players can stop dropping passes we will be fine for the remainder of the season.

I'm sure it felt that way but the Panthers only had 1 three and out in the entire game.

But the point is that we didn't just ignore the deep ball as many are saying.  Cam even stated there were some called, but he didn't like the look...in other words, it was Seattle's defense that prevented the deep ball, not Shula.
