Yes Thomas gave a long TD and it was early in the 4th. But at that time the D was getting tired from been out on the field for to long. The D and along with secondary played solid for most the game. But getting tired in the 4th is where they started giving up some chunks of yards. secondary is avg, but solid. Even the best of Ds start giving up yards in the 4th if they stay out on the field for a long time. Carolina gave up about 100 of those yards in the 4th when they was getting tired. So don't blame the D.

 

 

TOP difference was Seattle 30:14, Carolina 29:46.

I call bullshit strawman argument here.  I didn't see Zod call for a home run every play. How many designed screens were run? like 1?  Where the fug was Olsen in the second half? How many times did we stretch the field, with Ginn? On and On. There were things that could have been done and weren't. I am in agreement with Zod on this one.

They weren't giving us the deep ball...and their defensive backfield is truly elite, even their backups are better than what we have starting.  And we had to keep extra guys in to block to help cover our backup OG's.  And when we did try to set up a deep play, they got pressure on Cam...and our receivers still weren't getting open.  It's easy to blame the playcalling when you can ignore everything else going on, but the coaches don't have the luxury to do that.

Shula called a great game, thinking otherwise is, well it's why you aren't an NFL offensive coordinator. Players have to make plays. Period. Seattle is a SB fav for a reason. The Panthers aren't there yet.

Me too, me too. You're getting a good amount of yards on the run just about every time and you don't try to catch the safeties up in the box. Combine that with the fact that Smitty was lined up across from Walter Thurmond a lot because the Hawks didn't move Sherman all game and you get an awful job adjusting to flow of the game, and taking advantage of opportunities you created.

I agree about taking shots down field. At the same time you can't just throw it for the fug of it.

They had miscues just as we did.

 

Although you are technically correct, calling that a drop is stretching a little bit.

 

They scored as many TDs as we did, so it isn't like they lit up the scoreboard despite miscues

Sure they did, but that doesn't justify blaming the coaches for the players mistakes...which is the whole point of this thread.

They were on the field for less then half the game up to that point and even with Seattle's last clock killing drive, they only had the ball for like 33-34 minutes. That's not a whole lot of time, about 4 minutes over half the game.....

Even with the defense been on the field only half the game. It is still to much time on the field. Even a good D should only be on the field for about 15to20 mins game time. Beyond that they can get tired quick. And the heat can affect them as well at the end of the game. Again our D played very solid until the 4th when they started getting tired. Then big plays are given.

As Cam said they had plays called to go downfield but he didn't take it.  presumably because he didn't like the look

You need a running game to have a PA bomb. Dwill was getting some yards here and there, but the seahawks didn't take him seriously and they didn't bite. Shula called a great game. Players didn't execute. Olsen killed 2 drives with drops. Williams fumbled. Some of you ... just stop talkin

I didn't think it was that terrible. We never had the damn ball and were playing a good defense with a bad offensive line.
