Oh my god, Are you seriously calling Cam, the qb with the most passing yards in his first 2 seasons in the history of the NFL, middle of the pack? And that is without even mentioning his out of this world rushing and scrambling and ability.

You sound like one of the talking heads on ESPN just blabbering about some QB, that you've never actually seen in live action. We all knew Cam was a project when we drafted him, but none of us knew that he was this good. Im sick of listening to people like you doubting Cam over and over.

And shut up with your double standard will you? Cam has proven more at this lvl than Luke has so far (not saying that Luke doesn't look like an all timer). Judging Luke from a pre-season game where he looked fantastic, which is what it sounds like you are doing, is just plain stupid. Especially when you are using it as an argument to discredit Cam Newton, who in my opinion has the most talent of any QB the league has ever seen.. 

 

Middle of the pack when compared RIGHT NOW to all the qbs in the league. 

 

What metric do you want to use to measure qbs? qb rating? 

 

For qb rating Cam is 15. For total qbr Cam is 16. Which is about middle of the pack. 

 

Cam was not a project to anyone that knew football coming out. I lmao when hearing that dribble. You would be a fool to think such if you actually sat down and watched him play at Auburn and looked at his mechanics, physical attributes, decision making, stats, wins, and leadership. 

 

Um I am using last year as a metric for Luke. He lead the entire league in tackles, not just rookies. I am also using his characteristics ie instincts, athleticism, etc. 

 

No one is discrediting Cam. He is a very solid QB with a ton of upside and is on the right track.

 

My assertion still stands, Luke is more complete at his position than Cam is. ie Luke has less to improve on to be elite (many can argue he already is elite) than Cam does.

To measure Cam's ability, you can't use a quarterback rating. His running ability is so important, and that isn't factored in. Most rushing touchdowns ever by a QB in a season, first person to ever throw for 40 TDs and rush for 20 in a two year span, etc.

Also, for the footwork issue, most QBs who run don't have the greatest mechanics. There's more going on for them to worry about than just pocket passing. This the reason scrambling/athletic QBs were never put in high regard by the NFL, until, surprise, Cam took the league by storm as a rookie.

The man has been leaned upon too heavily by our coaching staff to cover up for the deficiencies of the coaches as well as the team.

I agree to an extent. He is quite a dynamic QB. 

 

Where do you rank Cam as far as QB is concerned? 

 

He is still has a decent step to to take to be elite (top 5) in my opinion. Needs to get his completion % up, cut down on the INTs, and start leading the team to more wins. 

 

His ceiling is probably the highest in the NFL. I hope he reaches it.
