There is always such a hype behind the first game that fans put an unrealistic view of things, I see why because its the first real game after the long break but its just one game in the grand scheme.

Just remember this 2001 the panthers worse season ever we opened 1-0, it's not a season based on just one game but a season as a whole. If you want to judge it judge it on quarters of the season.

I believe this game in particular is a must win simply because it's the season opener and this team has started out the gate slow the past 2 seasons. It's time to come out the gate fast and put up some W's on the board.

If you don't have faith in Rivera, you have to have trust in Gettleman. He has given Rivera all the tools to win with what little Hurney left him with. Gettleman has built a solid defense in his first year and that alone should give us a few wins. Rivera has to step up just like Cam has to step up his game. Many have been down on Cam. Gettleman has told him now is his time to show what he has. Its his third year so now he is a vet. If we fail, Gettleman will not hesitate to pull the trigger. It is now up to all 53 to show the fans their worthy of being a Panther. I look forward to a great season.

We play a west coast team at 9am their time they will be missing several key players in a hostile enviroment...if we cant win now then I dont have much faith.

Forgetting what we, the fans, really want, I cannot fathom how a pro football player or coach can approach a game, or a doctor a surgical procedure, a pilot an approach/landing, a lawyer a trial, a SWAT team a hostage rescue...you get the idea, as anything other than a MUST win situation.  Sure all of these professionals (except maybe SWAT) often get second chances, and the season is indeed 16 games long.  One or two loses will seldom, if ever, take you out of the playoff hunt, but the true winner approaches every challenge to be victorious...PERIOD.  That mindset must prevail throughout the week of practice, pre-game, in the locker room, and on the field right up until time expires.  And you keep doing it that way until the season is over.
