Greg Cosell critiques Cams throwing style

Cant play video at work, but what did he say about Cam's throwing style?

He talked about how some QBs stride into their throw like a Mat Ryan. Others torque them like a Brett Favre. But cam is an arm thrower. He doesn't consistently use his entire body starting with his feet to throw the ball. He has the arm strength to get away with it. Many NFL QBs could not throw the way Cam does. But the sacrifice is accuracy.

Another important detail is ball placement. Getting it there isn't enough. The elite QBs place the ball away from the defender or in a place were the WR can make a clean catch and run. This is something that separates the "good" from the "elite". Cam is already good but if he wants to become elite he has to improve accuracy and placement.

Then he just got into stuff like how eventually a running QB is going to be put in a spot were the only option is pass. That is why Cam needs to develop in the pocket.

Greg cosell is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgable football analysts. His word is taken very highly around the league. Just google his name and see the things said about him.

Thats fine, I can live with the fact that it was a relatively dumb comment on my part. Hasty, just got caught up having fun.

It was a fair and valid assessment of Cam, and not really that negative. It was more about the "unknown" factor of if Cam can ditch the bad habits in his footwork and continue to progress as a passer. The upside to being a "wristy" or arm thrower is that the QB can make incredibly difficult throws look effortless, but consistency is harder because the talent exists to make throws from a bunch of angles and platforms but in crunch time you have to have a consistent motion to fall back on.

He also went on to say that LaFell in his opinion was a solid number 2 receiver and that our defense looks solid. Said Luke was the best mlb in the league.

It is a very good interview.

Agree with everything he said. Great interview and critisim somewhat coming from Cosell.

Absolutely agree with how he said running plays like the 72yard run for TD vs. the Falcons will get you into ESPN highlights, but won't get you into the Playoffs.

Ima gonna blame CHUD for being too cute with Cam to win a HC job, but now it's time for Cam to take the next step if he wants to be great and not just good. The time for seriousness is now.

A lot of our fans have become too attached to Cam's athletic abilities. They want to stand up and defend Cam when other fans feel the need to criticize him for the "right things" like working on his form/technique; which it's good thing from our fans. But, sometimes you gotta face the truth and just admit the fact that he have things he needs to work on to become a great quarterback. .

I have never see the huddle agree on something someone about Cam.This may be a first. LOL

Bc a lot of fans have come to the conclusion that Cam does need to improve. The first two years, we as fans overlooked these things and gave Cam a pass. In his third season, all fans are talking about Playoffs, not just watching Cam being on ESPN highlights anymore. This is also great critiques coming from Cosell on football in general and not some towel over the head crap.
