Dan Morgan says Bobby > Luke

Not really. Lets take a look at the important measurables for a linebacker from their combine performance (Wagner didn't do the combine, he did a pro day)

Winner in bold....

Luke Bobby

20 yard dash 2.59 2.64

10 yard dash 1.56 1.57

Bench Press 27 24

Vertical 38 39.5

20 yard shuttle 4.12 4.28

3 cone 6.92 7.10

As a physical prototype middle linebacker, Luke wins hand down.

...but we all know Luke is "Gritty Gutty" and cannot be called athletic...just "savvy"

Luke is the NFL's Brent Barry*...except elite...and plays football....and not a Barry family member...or dunks from the free throw line in warmups

*obligatory obscure caucasian athlete reference mandated by law.

Classy.

Just as classy is Dan making a racial sterotype about our LB and assuming he's the typical "white, thinker, instincts" guy rather than looking at the facts.

Kuechly is one of the most physically gifted athletes at the position, period, and Dan said "Oh, look, a white guy, lemme throw out all the typical codewords: Cerebral. Instinctive. Tough, Lunchpail!"

It's not Luke's fault that he's great at avoiding blocks in the first place rather than having to fight them off.  I'll take beating blockers outright vs. having to fight them off any day of the week, and it's not like Luke gets swallowed up on those occasions where someone does get him squared up.  Luke's ability to sift through traffic untouched is incredible.

That makes no sense given the fact that Dan was a white MLB. His bias is driven by his paycheck.

lol so? What does this have to do with anything? Darren Sharper was a black S and still gets up on NFLN and makes idiotic comments.

A bias shouldn't extend to making such blatantly inaccurate comments. He's prone to the same ignorant stereotypes as anyone else is and he chose to act out of his ignorance rather than get the correct information.

piss poor reporting.

Hate to be that guy, but it's because Luke is white.  Stereotypes work both ways.  Just like people never really gush and gush over the fact that Luck is a freak athlete, Steve Young was a freak athlete, John Elway was a freak athlete.  It should be universally understood that JJ Watt is a science experiment; but people don't really gush about that either.  They talk about different things when they describe his style of play.  The fact that Morgan is white makes no difference; white commentators are the ones describing the style of play of white freak athletes differently from the way they describe black freak athletes.  It's always "hard work, discipline, never quit, he comes in early" vs "look at how explosive he is" and all that other BS. Don't ban me for this; I'm just being honest.
