When I first read about this being in the works, I was cautiously optimistic. Then I heard they were making it PG-13, and that all went out the window. Doesn't look terrible, but doesn't really do a whole lot for me honestly.

They also shouldn't have made the suit black, looks too much like something from GI Joe. Bad idea.

For this one, I'll likely just wait until it comes to Redbox.

They lost me when it was a car bomb. The lasting memory I have of the first one is the excruciating and painfully gory execution of Murphy. Now they puss out with a car bomb?

RoboCop was an over the top, violent Verhoeven bloodbath about our media obsessed, violence craving, materialistic and absent of responsibility culture.

This is a PG-13 action film that includes: family, children, love, and the though provoking question of who is in control, the man or machine? Who gives a fug! Was Murphy in control in the original? I don't know, he blew shiz up, shot guys junk off, and used an anti-tank rifle on a literal corporate drone. It was awesome!

What Verhoeven did was inject brilliant social commentary into mindless action films. This is trying to turn a mindless action film into a drama.

I wouldn't buy THAT for a dollar!

I actually found a list of 50 upcoming remakes and was surprised to see that the one movie I thought would definitely get remade wasn't on there, Running Man. On the other hand they are remaking The Crow, Nevernding Story, Mad Max, Pet Semantary, Childs Play, and Drop Dead Fred just to name a few. Almost none of them sound interesting.

I'm excited for it. Hopefully it plays on the same social themes and human elements that from the original and what is being emphasized in the trailer... Robocop was one of my favorite movies ever growing up and I hope they don't just dumb this one down from the character development and thematic perspectives and make it one of those "who needs basic plot elements when we have a man in a robot suit blowing up stuff on-screen like he would've 20 years ago if they had CGI" remakes.

From the looks of it, it looks promising. I had heard about it 3 or 4 years ago but, I got the impression that it was low budget and/or wouldn't make it to production... So, having that many quality actors is another good sign.

And I have to share, the part in the original where that guy gets acid dumped all over him and then gets hit by the car and turns to mush creeped me out the rest of my childhood.

Looks like it'd be a cool movie to watch, but no way in hell do I see it topping the original RoboCop nor do I expect it to.

Every movie doesn't have to be a classic, sometimes you just want to sit down and watch a fun movie.  Even it is just a retelling of a classic.  If you don't think you'd be entertained by this movie, then simple-- don't watch it.

The Never Ending Story is actually interesting for a remake.

Just the CGI capabilities and special effects would be automatically an upgrade.

I don't know though. It is a pretty cool movie as is, at least for me. I probably watched that movie 100x when I was a kid.

It could be made a little darker and have more action, but if they make it a straight more mature, popcorn, over the top, action movie it could quickly lose the spirit of the original.

The problem with remakes is they happen every freaking month it seems now.

Some great movies a lot of us may like were remakes of movies 20 or 30 years earlier. The Thing comes to mind. That's a grea example of it being done right and totally better than the orig.

Now its over done. Hollywood even does reboots and its not been that far removed from the orig. Xmen or Spidey anyone?

That is one of the things I vividly remember as a child watching that movie!

I used to have such a crush when I was a kid on that princess chick.

    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
    • It's a decent vid with compelling reasons for his opinion. But, my thing is is that you simply can't draft McMillan thinking he is a surefire WR1. There are questions. His 40---rightly or wrongly---will play a part. I'd think that his splits (which will speak more to his game translating to the pros in my mind) are more important.  As much as you're trying to sell us that McMillan is a don't-overthink-it-type-of-player, I wouldn't say that's the case. Workouts will play a part in all of this.  At this point, I like the thought of Tetairoa. That's as much as I can give you right now.
