Peyton Manning and his accuracy issues, should Broncos be concerned?

You don't?

No, I was 7. Doesn't mean that Peyton was that much better. Their really two different QBs, with some mechanics fixed and a decent offensive coordinator I think he could be an upper echelon passing QB. The flip side is he is also a very good runner. I just hope that the day he doesn't have to worry about carrying the team comes on Sunday.

all of the talking heads are suggesting Drew Brees had no help last year and it was unfortunate he had to carry his team. Cam gets no such pass despite what he has done. If he had put up the stats he has and we had a competent defense in 2011 we may have won more of those close games.

I love Cam as our QB.  He is a big play QB that adds a huge dimension with his legs.  He is a sub 60% passer and probably always will be.  He will likely never be an accurate surgeon style QB like Brady or Manning.

Comparing him to Manning is ridiculous....and using last night performance for your arguement (64% comp, 7 TDS, 450 yds, in the rain and win) is beyond laughable.

They're just not the same style of QB.

Guys like Brees, Brady, Manning and Rodgers are precision passers, the kind that could hit a grain of sand from 60 yards away.

Quarterbacks like Favre, Roethlisberger, Elway, and Newton can sometimes throw perfect passes, but for the most part you're just shooting for catchable.

For a QB like that, you need receivers that can adjust and generally you'll be fine.

But you can't judge them the way you judge the other guys.  They're just not the same.

Peyton Manning is probably one of the best QB's that has ever played this game. He has more football knowledge in his little finger then most OB's will ever have. Cam can be a very good or even great QB one day if he progresses, but right now he isn't there yet. Cam will never be the caliber of P.M., nor will 95% of the QB's. Let's not live in lala land here. Not a pocket passer nor should he ever be,beats you with his legs and hs arm strength down field. If he improves his accuracy to the point of being consistent with his throws, then we can win.

Realistically speaking, consistency is legitimately Newton's biggest challenge.

Gunslinger QBs are pretty much always a mix of "holy cow" and "what the @#$%".  It's just who they are.

The goal of coaching is to maximize the first and minimize the second, but you can never completely coach it out of them.

Look at Favre.  Good coaching made him the best he could be, but right up till the end he was still throwing passes that made people wanna tear their hair out.

Regardless, he needs to improve on his touch and ability to hit wide open receivers in short passing situations. It's been a recurring issue since he was at Auburn. He needs to improve there to take the next step in becoming a great QB.

Yeah. Except it isn't a deficiency. It is being a QB. Only some of our fans have him under so much of a microscope that every bad throw is about "his lack of accuracy".

It is BS. I am.not saying Can is goat and perfect and has nothing to work on.

But whenever I see people post about his accuracy they talk about a handful of plays in each game.

All I proved is that it happens to all QBs even the great ones, and there is no real evidence that Cam is abnormally inaccurate when compared with the rest of the QBs in the NFL

If some Panthers fans think Cam is Inaccurate and makes wild throws, then they should watch Eli Manning (as well as others) sometimes when they get a chance.  :phew:

It's pathetic when our fans compare Cam to P. Manning.

I am not comparing Cam to P. Manning.  Anyone who thinks so is missing the point, I could have done this with any QB in the league.  i used Peyton Manning as a vehicle because in my opinion he is the best QB of his generation.  I could just as easily used Flacco last night.  It isn't about Peyton Manning, it is about the over analyziation of every throw that leads to every missed throw being a collective groan about Cam's inaccuracy.

It doesn't hold up under more scrutiny.

No. A thread started by someone who can't handle any criticism of Cam.

I have said before in this thread that Cam has a multitude of things to work on, chief among those better decision making that I think will come with continued experience.

It isn't about handling criticism, it is about rebuffing false narratives and misguided criticisms.

Peyton isn't that much better? The man is a first ballot hall of famer. Cam has a long way to go. Cam can become a damn good QB, but Peyton is on another level.

No one were running 4-5 receivers in 1998 unlike now.
