Here's why i feel atleast a little confident.

 

1. This is an elimination game in a hostile environment. True, he did have alot of pressure on him before, but elimination game, it is the max you can get. 

2. Our guys have seen him before. Nobody on our team had seen him the previous game, and now that we've seen him, hopefully we can get more comfortable with what he has to offer

3. We feel like a team of destiny...this entire year has. We have had almost EVERY player on our roster be a hero at some point in the season or post-season. 

 

I say we win tomorrow and take home the trophy.

 

1.  I agree it's a hostile environment but the kid is unflappable.  It's absolutely going to be his toughest test and I could make a case for it getting to him - and definitely one for it not.

2.  Our guys have seen Lackey now, too, which makes this a wash.  Wacha > Lackey.

3.  I don't buy this at all.  This was the same thing Texas was saying when they had us down 3-2.  We see how that worked out.

 

With all that said....I, sadly, think the Sox will win.  The Cards are too banged up right now (Beltran, Craig) and our offense that was so powerful during the regular season is nonexistent.  I think Wacha has a tremendous game tomorrow, but ultimately doesn't get the run support to get the W.

Well, Wacha being unflappable might be true, might not. We will see tomorrow i guess, but when I was referring to our guys seeing Wacha, I meant for the first time ever. The Cards had guys on their team, such as Beltran, Holliday, etc, who knew what Lackey threw and had faced him before, the Sox didn't have that going into last game. They do now.

 

The reason I said Red Sox looked like a team of destiny is because we have had 11 walk off's this year, tops of anybody in the league. When it gets to the breaking point, for most of this season, we've come out ahead. Of course the Cards could win the next two games, but I feel good about us winning. Let's hope that doesn't blow up in my face.

I agree, I think the Sox will win it.  I think Lackey has a strong performance, then pen does well and someone will come through with the big hits.  I feel it will be low scoring though and do not see the pressure getting to Wacha.  I know it is the World Series as opposed to the NLDS but he did take the mound in an elimination game in Game Four against Pittsburgh.  After all that fanbase has been through that was certainly a hostile environment with everything on the line and a lot of pressure.  He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.  Maybe he makes a few mistakes early and then starts to unravel, but I am not counting on it.

I know the feeling.  Ours has not been there most of October.  It says a lot about our teams that made it this far with their dominant offense struggled.

If we pitch to Ortiz then we are idiots. I'd make someone else beat us. True the Sox hitters have been very opportunistic (Ross, Gomes) but if I'm the Cards I'm going to make them doing it again - Papi is on another planet right now.

Momentum is a HUGE deal in the Series. When the Sox win tonight they'll say "Team of Destiny", but it's really the momentum of winning game 5 and taking it back to Boston.

It's been a hell of a Series even with the questionable calls. It's not going to be an easy one to lose.

I cannot understand why they keep pitching him.  I realize he was struggling entering the series but by this point it is clear he is hammering the ball.  Especially with the way the rest of the offense is struggling.  Papi should be treated like Bonds at this point.

 

I am going to go out on the longest of limbs and say Stephen Drew has a big hit to help propel the team that night.  He really hit one well the other night in his second AB and followed with a crucial BB in his third.  I say he builds upon that and finally breaks through this evening.  I also feel Bogaerts has a solid night.

 

I see Lackey giving up 0-2 runs through six and the Sox having a slim lead (maybe tied) at that point.  I am most worried about the seventh inning.  Whether it is a tiring Lackey or a struggling middle relief I think that is the danger inning.  I have all the confidence in the world in the Japanese duo if we can get them the lead.  Even when someone has beaten them (Lobaton) this postseason it has bee on a good pitch.
