M3OW's Blockbuster Predictions (Week 1)

Each week, I will be doing my predictions of each game in Blockbuster Movie style. This week will be a little different because I'll be using bits from the original and the 2013 re-make. Enjoy!

Week 1

It’s that time of year. Football is in the air. We are riding on the high of a winning preseason. As of right now, the Carolina Panthers are Undefeated. It's a new dawn. And it will be a... Blue Dawn.

Sunday morning we all will awake to the rumble of every media outlet declaring the Seahawks have already won. The streets in downtown Charlotte will flood with hungry football fan in a panic to find their way to Bank of America Stadium. And I’m sure, like most home games, it will be invaded by Seahawk fans.

Prediction 1: Bank of America Stadium will smell of Starbucks and Grunge this Sunday.

They will be quick to fire on Panther fans with ammo such as “$cam Newton” and “remember last season”. We may lose some loved one in the crossfire and other fans may defect to save face.

The same panic will ensue during the opening minutes of the game. The Seahawks will take an early lead and it may seem like our young team is high tailing it to the mountains.

Prediction 2: We get behind early. The Huddle fills with threads of "0-16" and "Fire Rivera".

It’s look like all is lost for our team. They will have small victories here and there but still be behind in the big picture. Their father figure is forced to submit in front of their eyes, but (to the surprise of all) gives a rousing speech to fight back at all costs. To take the fight to the enemy. Reminding all that this is our home, and no invader will take that from us.

Prediction 3: Ron Rivera will be shown on the sideline pulling a player or two to the side and giving them a lashing.

This lights a fire under our young heroes, and they take the fight to the Seahawks. They start winning the battle in the trenches.

They attack from the ground and air and take every thing they can.

Prediction 4: We start to turn it on. Taking small chucks of yards where it is given. We close the gap.

Forcing the enemy into a panic. They will be asking, “How can THIS small time team be giving us so many problems?”

The Seahawks, in a panicked frenzy, will fight back as best they can. They will attack us when we least expect it. Causing, what some may see, as a fatal blow.

Prediction 5: As soon as we catch up, the Seahawks will lead an impressive drive down the field and score in the 4th.

But just when things look like the Panthers don’t have a chance in this thing, a grizzled, professional veteran shows up to give the team the boost they need.

Prediction 6: Smitty will have a huge play to get the players and fans back into the game.

With the help of their seasoned friend, this young team comes back fighting harder than ever before. Taking it to the Seahawks in full force.

With the leader of the enemy fallen and the dust settling, the underdogs come out victorious.

Prediction 7: We welcome back the Cardiac Cats when this team finally puts together a late winning drive.

The world will be shocked. How could a small-time team beat such a force as the Seahawks? How could these “kids” put together a resistance during these dark time? Those questions will be answered in the weeks to come.

But for now, the Nation will hear our war cry. It will be on every channel. You won’t be able to hide. And that sound will ring from coast to coast. One word....

Final Prediction:

Lol, I have to save some players for other weeks. Plus, I don't think Hardy will have a career game this week. I think he will do "good-enough" for us not to question him. But nothing we will be starting threads over.

I did notice you had Star though whom I think struggles early in the season. Hardy is my guy for breakout player of the year. If he plays like I think he will, no way can we resign him.

I had a heart attack just reading this. I don't know if I can handle a close game, please let it be a blowout win for the home team. . .

I have a sneaking feeling this game will rival 2008's Week 1 against the Chargers when it's all said and done.

Trust me, I wish like nothing more than a blow out in our first game. But I think our early season woes will continue... But this time only lasting 3 quarters.

Wont even be close Panthers will destroy Seattle.

it all depends on what offense shows up.

if it's the offense of 2011 and the last few weeks of 2012, blow out is entirely possible.

if it's the offense of the first half of last year or what we saw in preseason....meh.

    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
