A Defense Destined to Dominate

I understand, but this quote here "It's trivial to say that the defense he was playing against has any relevance" is very off. What can I say? I wont say anything mean, but man. . . can youuuuuuuuu . . . really say that?

'The defense a QB plays has no relevance to his play in that particular game'. . . . .thats what youre saying right?

I personally dont compare two different scenarios where two different teams with two different sets of players, on two different fields, with two different injury list variables, with two different QB's. . etc, etc. I can take a large set of that data out of several games and probably get something out of it. . but not a couple of games. On that note, if I were to compare Cam's best two games with Wilson's two best games, who do you think would look more impressive?

So you're saying that when you think of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady you breakdown their abilities by each and every defense they play?  Really?

I'm saying that when describing a QB's strengths, weaknesses, and abilities the defense they are going against is trivial.  How they play in those games means a lot but when ranking QB's at the beginning of the year people don't include the defenses they played against.

And I don't think the idea of who is better Cam or Wilson ever came into the argument.  It's simply which one will have a better game on Sunday.  And to think Wilson is just going to sit back and hand it off 30 times is ridiculous he is a much better Quarterback than that, regardless of the defense he is playing against.

I just . . I cant continue this conversation man. I dont have time to talk "football" with someone that doesnt think the defense a QB is playing effects how he plays.

That's too much for my patience to tolerate. . . and not only that but you were being a jackass about it by making passive aggressive statements in order to goad me into something more. Usually I would take the time to make sure you understand never to do that again in my own little "make you swallow your own tongue" sort of way, but after conversations with guys like HelloWorld and yourself I just dont feel like its worth the time to put the words on a webpage. In the end am I bettering anything? No, I am literally wasting my time.

Im not sure how you watch football based on your remark up there. Do you eat it with a fork or a spoon? Yes I actually watch the game to assess talent, I know thats weird, but try to wrap your head around it sometime.

and btw I didnt compare Cam to Wilson, haha thats absurd. I would never embarrass a good dude like Wilson. Im rooting for him when he's not playing us, but he's not worth mentioning in the same breath as a pro bowl 6'6 QB that is strong, faster, smarter, and tougher. . whos already broken several pro records (not just rookie ones).

I really don't think we are talking about the same thing...and I will assure you I watch as much football as the next guy.  I think you are simply arguing a topic that I'm not, and the fact is that you love it.

I was being passive aggressive but that was because you were being aggressive.  You're a tool.  There, that's aggressive.  You took a comment I said and completely spun it around and made something out of it that wasn't even there.  I can assure you that you can say whatever you want because I won't be "swallowing my tongue" anytime soon.

The fact is that on a game to game basis, of course the defense you play against matters, but even as you stated in your idiotic banter above, Cam's strength, speed, intelligence and toughness doesn't change based on the defense he's playing.  Or are you saying that it does?  That Cam isn't as fast because he'll be playing the Seahawks defense?  Or as Smart?

They are physical abilities, a lot of the same abilities that Wilson has and has shown in the past.  Like the playoffs last year.  He showed the ability to be fast, smart, tough, accurate, and handle pressure. That won't change on Sunday, as much as you may think it will.

A defense can make it harder to be accurate, or to handle pressure, but the fact remains that he is still a great QB who is more than just a game manager.  Cam was 12-29 for 141 yards last year against the Seahawks and had a fumble, he also botched the game winning TD...that doesn't sound like a Pro Bowler to me, and yet you say he is.  So according to your logic the Seahawks aren't facing a Pro Bowl quarterback this week, they are facing an inaccurate game manager who likes to fumble and can't close out games.

. . . . .

Yeah no amount of words you put on a page are going to change the fact that you saying "the defense doesnt affect how the QB plays" is just plain ridiculous and doesnt deserve any more of a response than that.

sorry I didnt take the time to read your post, Im sure it was wonderful

Never once did I say that or imply that but I'm sure that doesn't matter anymore.  Have a good one.

Yes.  It doesn't have any relevance when saying what type of player a QB is.  No matter who Peyton Manning is playing he is still one of the best QB's in the history of the NFL.

Buuuuuuut...I'm sure you'll twist that around again.

I guess Peyton is just as effective against the Raiders as he is against San Fran then. Oh my god TWIST look out!

In fact, I'll make it easy on you.  When you mentioned Cam being stronger, faster, smarter, and tougher than Wilson WHY didn't you mention which defenses he was playing against that made you think that?  I mean if all of those qualities are affected by the defense, then which ones is he better than Wilson when playing?

That's why I think we are arguing to completely different points.  You're saying that the defense Wilson plays against this weekend (Carolina) could be effective against him.  Which is true.  Our defense will hopefully dictate what Wilson can do and hopefully contain him.

What I am saying that the type of player or the quality of the player that a QB is doesn't change between defenses.  He can be more effective or less effective but the fact that Cam is a top 15 QB doesn't change whether he's facing the 49ers or the Saints.  This isn't fantasy football.
