HOW DOES INJURED RESERVE WORK ?

They cut waivered Jimmy Claussen and Naka yet they both passed waivers and were put back on the tea m on injured reserve . Does the team have to  pay them off to Fire them or are they stashed in hopes  they are better ball players next year?

In the case of those 2 and any others scheduled to be a free agent next year we will likely try and work out injury settlements.. Basically pay the, for the length of time they think they'll be injured, the they can try and catch on with another team this year.

Plus the players would get a lump sum in an injury settlement( I think that what I heard)

Injury settlements are a form of severance package.  Most of our players on IR will receive their injury settlement and be on their way.  Players on IR still count against our cap.
