Ron Rivera Press Conference

Every game is critical. While we don't have to win every game they are all pretty close to a must win. Rivera knows this. He is not one to say much of substance during these press conferences.

You start 0-2 you are practically done for the season. 12%+ chance to make the playoffs.

While we shouldn't lose to the bills we have a 3-1 potential and a 1-3 potential going into the bye.

Seattle game is huge, probably the most important game of the year.

And yes it is a coaches job to motivate players. It's pretty high up on the job description.

In no way did the guy say the game was not important or lead on that he has no urgency.

good grief

he is just saying that he is not putting the entire season on game one or treating it as a must win at all costs or all is lost

there is nothing to gain by saying we HAVE to win game one

(except for maybe to coddle a few of you know-it-all chicken littles around here)

And its crazy how much you can see with your eyes closed. Is he a good coach? No. I use to think there were no such thing as wrong rights. But then we hired Rivera. Did he deserve to be a head coach? Yes. Does he have the skill? No. And not firing him last year just set this franchise back 2 years. FTR

what in the fug of foreign languages do you call this?

edit:  FTR, I only read the first 2 sentences and it caused a natural "WTF" reaction...

dude is a good coach, but may prove this year to be a bad headcoach...   I fuged that up.  normally, I'm reading your post as playing with fire when it comes down to your own POV....

Obviously, this 1/10 times is my bad...

I honestly don't know where the hell these retarded ideas about coaches come from. I judge Rivera on his missteps in play calls and situational coaching (the most difficult facet to learn) and people have a rightful beef there. But motivation and accusations of a lack of urgency? Shut your ignorant mouths. You look at the way the team fought in a meaningless game against the Saints and tell me they didn't want it. And now that the stakes are higher you think they lack urgency? Are people seriously that effing stupid?

the answer to this thread is before you..............

Nola first year. Calls a timeout when they had no time to line up for a field goal.

And that's a valid complaint. I've never said I was happy with Rivera's decision-making, although I will say that he has made adjustments over time, something the previous regime was loathe to do. People seem to forget that we became much more aggressive on 4th and short in the second half of the season, for example.

But when Rivera is accused of simply being happy to be here or not having urgency I will call it out as the lie it is. Those who want him gone shouldn't resort to smears to justify their opinion.

No it isn't. That's a load of fanciful BS made by sports movies and writers. A coach's first, second, third, etc. job is to coach. Motivational ploys are just noise if the coach can't do his primary job.
