Ron Rivera Press Conference

just for clarities sake here is rivera's actual words about this game being important from this interview.

Exactly. We talked about starting strong. We talked about we finished strong last year, we want to pick up where we left off. We want to start strong and we're going to start physical, playing hard. Ummm...I agree and I agree with your sentiments about it. The thing that people don't realize is that this is a 16 game marathon. You want to win them all. You want to win your first one, but truthfully you want to win the one you're about to play because that's the most important one. That's our approach. We're going to focus in on one game at a time and when that game is over you want to move on to the next one and I've talked about that to these guys and I think that's probably the most important thing that we focus in on this first game.

If anything, I like what Rivera actually did say better than if he came out and said "this is the most important game in the season."

"You want to win them all. You want to win your first one, but truthfully you want to win the one you're about to play because that's the most important one."

I respect opinions different from mine if they are based on reasonable interpretations of facts. When people reach their conclusions by listening to secondhand or thirdhand interpretations without giving a benefit of doubt for it being secondhand or thirdhand, I can't respect that type of opinion.

There are always more than one side in a discussion, but that was not a discussion. That was an emotional knee-jerk condemnation. And no matter what Rivera does, he will not succeed or even get redemption in some people's minds. If he loses the first game, he needs to be fired. If he wins the Super Bowl, well, that's what he's supposed to do and gets paid to do. He'll never get an "Atta boy, Ron" or pat on the back from them. He's still a human being and NONE of us are perfect.

I've seen some over-the-top reactions from the Huddle in my albeit short time here, but that one.......words fail me as much as some of you have. I suggest joining some other NFL team forums and talking to those fans to see just how good you really do have it here being a Panther fan. You need the context of a Raiders fan's pov or a Browns fan's pov or a Bills fan's pov. Their whining and complaining pales to ours.

We are in great shape to succeed now and in the long-term future. We are on the rise. Other fans see it. Why can't some Panther fans?

So... let's recap.

"Rivera needs to go if he doesn't want to win."

"If we have a losing record at any point of the year, Rivera must go."

"Rivera sucks. This will probably be my last year of PSLs."

"Rivera can't coach, we are screwed, and I am pissed."

All before we play a game. All because too many are too lazy to watch a presser, so they overreact to a hastily made transcript.

Yup... the Huddle is in mid-season form.

rivera: "we don't want to win this game just by playing good defense, we want all phases of the team to be playing well for us."

huddle: "RIVERA JUST SAID 'WE DON'T WANT TO WIN THIS GAME' OMG LETS KILL OURSELVES"

I'd laugh, but sadly sometimes it's not that far off :(

The Huddle is quite fine (minus some doucheheads) if you compare to other boards. Everybody is excited for the season to come, anxcious on how we will do this season, and praying we won't have another slow start that ruins all the fun by week 4. I do understand, but won't agree with them overreacting on some standard press conference quotes. As if Rivera will give the Hawks extra information? Sure he won't.

I really hope we will come out and stick it to everyone downtalking our organisation, players, staff etc.

Classic Huddle overreacting.

tbh, i think rivera has more than earned this kind of reaction based on past comments and actions.

the sense of urgency hasn't really been there, tho the excuses, justifications, and platitudes sure have.
