Carolina Panthers sign Quintin Mikell

The strength of Mikell is playing in the box. He can stuff the running back behind the line of scrimmage and is effective at blitzing the QB's.

Last year he had 3 sacks and 84 tackles. 39 of which were considered a " stop" by PFF.

Only Eric Weddle and Rhonde Barber had more.

Stop definition per PFF = the cumulative solo tackles which constitue an offensive failure.

I did read the thread. Sounded like a lot of guessing to me. So no team in the entire nfl was willing to pay this all world safety so he sit home since march. Right.

I mean, yeah pretty much. There's also the fact that he's a vet and likely wanted to avoid training camp. He was also probably trying to hold out for multi year deal. There's lots of possible reasons why he didn't sign till now but none of them are ability related.

Plus he his a vet who probably didn't want to endure training camp and knew a job somewhere would be there for him after TC ended. He was right

Cool.  Thanks for answering. Sounds like we definitely got an upgrade.

If you knew anything about the NFL you would know that a lot of vets that are cut in the offseason don't sign til after training camp or even after the season because they are holding out to see who will give them the best offer after all the teams evaluate their younger players and their offseason development.
