Carolina Panthers sign Quintin Mikell

Cap causality in Saint Louis, really surprised we didn't pick him up earlier, but I guess they were going to to roll with the young guys. Great pickup though, now please bring in a starting vet guard!

He's a vet and much like Iverson he didn't need the practice.

Quite impressed with how things are handled now. Good signing, and I almost expect an oline signing as well at this point. Either way, HELL YEAH!

Awesome, our defense is looking even more nasty than before. Will he be starting week 1? He has a lot to learn, i'm sure his familiarity with Mcdermott back in Philly will make it a lot easier on him.

 

Dwan Edwards immediately started for us last year, I think, and we signed him around the same time.  I expect that even if he isn't starting, he will get plenty of PT this week.  Plus he is a very experienced safety who has played for the complicated Jim Johnston defenses back in Philly and has played for Jeff Fisher style defenses too.  So I don't think there will be too much he isn't already familiar with.

Lets hope he stayed in good condition. It will be hard for him to come right in physically without having gone through camp and preseason.

I feel they also thought philosophy wise we would be better going with younger corners, and a vet safety behind them to lead the way, then a older corner, with a young safety.  Safety is your last line of defense, a vet is going to be very valuable there.

we still only have four safeties on the roster... I'd perhaps use that last PS squad spot on one so we aren't killing these guys in practice wth reps..
