Not bank rupt us but if it's cheaper it's cheaper and it a means to the same end. Paying his remaining tiny of of contract is lower than paying an injury settlement. Either way, he's gone. 

 

If he had any value, some other team would have claimed him. He's not going to be a Panther next year, unless you honestly believe they are going to RESIGN him after spending yet another fuging year on IR. Who's the one lacking common sense?

 

 

Again, no team would sign an injured player especially with his injury history. When healthy, he is valuable to our team. Certainly more than Edwards.

 

We have Hixon on our team with an injury history. Edwards who has done nothing in the NFL. And Ginn who has been questionable as a WR in the past.

 

We feel Gettis is valuable enough to keep around just in case our receivers don't reach their potential this season.

 

Which btw, Edwards has the highest possibility of failing this season. They may want to sign Gettis back if Edwards has another 3-5 catch season and finds himself yet again dead last on the depth chart at season's end.

I don't understand the Gettis backlash. Everyone loved him the past three years, he has a promising preseason and there is nothing but hate for him now. I actually feel better about him today than i did 2 months ago.

Yes you're right his teammates will not tell the truth. But the numbers are out there and players have been cut with more production.

I don't care if he's a converted player, I care about who can help the Panthers win, not really into backstories.

 

I edited this into the post you quoted: If Fua didn't have a good work ethic, he would have been cut with Mcclain. He tried hard, but ultimately wasn't good enough to perform on an NFL level. I feel that point has come for Armanti, as well. In a league where the average career is 4 years, he now enters his 4th year of no success. I think even if he does manage to pull it together this year, his ceiling is incredibly low and he'll never muster a season to compare with a Keary Colbert or David Gettis.

 

you are not getting me. i was showing the difference in why some defend armanti and at the same time not fua. i've been a major critic of armanti because i thought he has played timid amongst other things compared to what i saw in college. it's put up or shut up year and it's going to be nearly impossible for him to sign a contract with the panthers after this year.

Posted something similar in the thread last night. Gettis gets cut and a bunch of people come out of the woodwork reveling in the "tears" of people who were rooting for him. Bizarre.

 

I can understand schadenfreude over some failure of the Falcons or Saints, but actually being gleeful over other Panthers fans being upset is gross.

No, actually is much more simple, we didn't want to have to pay an injury settlement so we put him onto IR. It's the last year of his contract and he'll be allowed to walk after spending all season on the couch.

 

He didn't get claimed by anyone because he's not that good and prone to injury. 

 

If a player thinks he can recover and play this year, he may want to be released so he can join another team. The team may want to let him go and recover some cap space. That's where the injury settlement comes in. The player and team work out a deal for partial year's salary giving the team some cap space and the player is released to rehab and and join another team.

That is your reason.  People won't let it die. 

 

If you thought he sucked and was the equivalent to Mr. Glass, great.  I seriously doubt a player that hasn't seen the field in two years was any huddler's favorite player, but people find his release (essentially) as a reason to celebrate, prop up Armanti, and potshot anyone who expressed disappointment in the move.  That will naturally piss off people who still had hope for his potential.

 

It's over with now, and yet we still have zinger-fest going on.

see this pisses me off a little bit.

I only saw maybe one person "reveling in the tears" of people who were rooting for him. Most everybody was rooting for him during the preseason. the bombastic overreactions to him getting cut made me laugh. because people were acting like this was the difference between a good year and a bad year, and questioning gettleman when a few short hours before calling him a genius.
