To tell the truth, it doesn't even really have to be a "trade" per se.

It's not unusual for a GM to call another GM with whom he's acquainted on cut day and say something like "Hey, we just released this kid who we liked a lot but we didn't have room for him on roster. Maybe you could use him."

If you see any Panther cuts go to New York or Giant cuts going to Charlotte, it could be because of something like that.

Why do I get the feeling that Hurney received no such calls. Other than on draft day of couse.

Gettleman received a call on draft day asking if he'd trade away next year's first round pick for a second rounder this year.

 

He said in his presser that the guy had to be "brain dead" if he though we were gonna take that deal.

 

I wonder if the caller asked to speak to Marty Hurney :unsure:
