What Seahawks fans are saying...

Jake Delhomme was a game manager. Want to get into his first post season stats?"

Want to not cherry pick and deal with the totality of the evidence?

"e: why am I even feeding this troll?"

Really? Well-reasoned, polite discussion is trolling now?

"Vertical passing or WCO has no bearing on completion % or passer rating?"

Not for a top QB, no. And not for Wilson. Pro style? Excelled. Hybrid WCO? Excelled. And the offense in Carolina was partly tailored to Cam. Not the case in Seattle. Also, why are you stuck on two years ago? Cam's stats were virtually the same last year. What's your excuse for that? As Carolina fans you are also well aware Wilson carried the offense at NC.

4700 yards

Record for most touchdowns by a qb ever.

Only qb in history to throw for 4000+ and rush for 500+

It is definitely the best rookie season by a quarterback ever.

Cam is just as much as a leader as Wilson is but you have your head so far up your ass you actually believe media bullshit that cam is just a pouty kid. You'll see Sunday who is the better qb. Which is #1

PASSING Touchdowns. Wilson also had 5 on the ground for a total of 31.

Yards? Who cares? Most overrated stat of all for all but RBs. Even for them, YPC is far more important. Wilson? 7.9 Cam? 7.9

Oops.

"you have your head so far up your ass you actually believe media bullshit that cam is just a pouty kid."

Actually, what I said was not that Cam is a pouty kid, but that those were things you would never even see written about Wilson. I never stated an opinion about their veracity. That there is any reason for such comments at all points to a difference, doesn't it?

What I find interesting is none of you comes up with a single example of Cam's work ethic despite being defensive about it... even though I never said he had a poor work ethic!

Wow... some of you are massively defensive... and need to read more carefully.

BTW, the topic of that post was the issue of Wilson as game manager, not who the best rookie QB ever was.

Russ Wilson is my favorite non-Cam QB in the NFL, and it's not even close.

With that said, K Hawk, you are making baseless comments that hold no meaning whatsoever. We get it, Russ is good. But put Russ into our offense two years ago with no offseason work, and I can guarantee you Big Boii Russ wouldn't have finished with a 100+ rating. The year before Cam came in, we had about 18 different QBs start in 16 games. There's no way all of those QBs were actually as bad as our offense/coaches/defense made them seem.

We'll never know, but you may well be right. However, to put the issue in context, Cam's QB (+1.7) and QBR (-2.1) ratings were just a couple points apart the last two years. So.... what happened the 2nd year?

Why don't y'all just chill out and see what he does this year.

There's a game Sunday. How about we talk about that for a while?

Yeah, kinda surprises me, too, what some of your fans *don't* know about Wilson.

I really like Wilson. I think he's going to be an excellent QB in the NFL. I'll go so far as to say he might be the next Drew Brees.

That said, Cam Newton is going to be the next.... Cam Newton. The NFL hasn't seen anything like him. Come this Sunday. Y'all are going to get a proper introduction.

Everything is pointing to an upset.

Your team has spent the whole offseason hearing about how great they are as the trendy SB pick. Ask how that worked out for the 2004 Panthers.

It's on the road for a 10am pacific time start.

You have an important divisional showdown the week after us.

You have significant injuries whereas the Panthers are mostly healthy.

Your players won't be on PEDs anymore.

And lastly, the Panthers are straight up hungrier than you.

Do you realize how ridiculously unlucky the Panthers have been? We lost 14th straight coin tosses last year. Fourteen straight including an overtime one. At one point we were 1-11 in games decided by one possession. If we just regress to the mean, we'll be a playoff team.

We need this win more than you. We want this win more than you. On Sunday morning when you wake up and get your fancy overpriced coffee to sit down in front of your sun lamp to work on your Vitamin D deficiency, you'll be watching your overhyped Seahawks lay an egg.

Don't worry. Just listen to

commiserating with you and tell yourself "Thank god we only play the Panthers once."

The playbook had something to do with it. The OC got away from what worked and tried to force a lot of things. We also had a rookie at LG and after a few weeks a hodge podge rotation at C and RG due to Kalil going down.

Cam was having to dodge more pressure from the middle than the previous year. It's not a coincidence that Cam and the offense as a whole took a HUGE step forward when we went back to a more traditional run game and had some consistency along the OL.

This is Cam's 3rd year. What happened his second? Ah, the playbook...

That you think this matters tells me what you don't understand about this team.

Yes, so they have been practicing at 10 AM. And our team is considerably deeper than yours, so that should balance any issues with time or heat.

You have an important divisional showdown the week after us.

Not an issue. The advantage of a "stay in the now" QB.

You have significant injuries whereas the Panthers are mostly healthy.

Only on the D line, but your O line is an issue, so that's a wash.

Your players won't be on PEDs anymore.

Logical fallacy and petty, If you have to go there, you're scared.

And lastly, the Panthers are straight up hungrier than you.

Based on WHAT?

Do you realize how ridiculously unlucky the Panthers have been? We lost 14th straight coin tosses last year. Fourteen straight including an overtime one. At one point we were 1-11 in games decided by one possession. If we just regress to the mean, we'll be a playoff team.

All of our five losses were by 7 pts or less. The coin toss is nice, but hardly definitive. Most teams seem to defer these days. Oh, and 1 - 11 isn't unlucky, it's a problem. No disrespect, that's just what it is.

We need this win more than you. We want this win more than you.

You realize this is subjective hyperbole, right?

I don't live in Seattle. Nice stereotypes though. Am I supposed to insult you now? I'll pass.

Don't worry. Just listen to

Oh! You really got me there! Except I've never been to Seattle, don't really listen to grunge, but did live in NC and Florida for a combined 8 years or so. Love me a good old fashioned fish fry with boiled crabs, fried fish, hushpuppies and watermelon! Toss in some swimming in the river and beer ball.

Ironic that the problem with Wilson was that they tried to keep him bottled up. They never needed to, imo. You know how the harder you try to color in the lines the harder it is to do it? That was Wilson. He was just too polite and too respectful to get in Carroll's face and tell him to get the hell out of the way.

While many pundits say Seattle had a very good O line last season, it was false. Wilson, a good scheme, and a little of the RO made them look better than they were. Good, but only. We had rotisseries at the guard spots and Giacomini at RT was a yellow flag waiting to happen. Sweezy, a rookie converting to O from D, did settle in nicely at RG by the end of the season, but hadn't when we played you.

Cam is Superman, but we're the ones with the problem? Seriously?

LOL!!!

Yes, seriously. Cam has a nickname. Wilson has one decent season and he has losers from Kansas and Myrtle Beach lubing up their palms and jumping in line to give him a hand job. Pretty sad seeing 48 year olds dudes sucking off a kid.

That you think this matters tells me what you don't understand about this team.

Just human nature. People get told how great they are, and they start believing the hype.

Yes, so they have been practicing at 10 AM. And our team is considerably deeper than yours, so that should balance any issues with time or heat.

Practicing is not equal to playing. Also it's more about the travel. All of your losses last season were on the road.

Not an issue. The advantage of a "stay in the now" QB.

Even if I accepted your statement, there are 44 other guys on the active roster. The San Fran game is more important for y'all in lots of ways. You really think no one on your team is thinking past the Panthers?

Only on the D line, but your O line is an issue, so that's a wash.

D-Line is one of the worst places to have injuries as you need depth to rotate. It's not just about your backups filling in as starters. It's about the whole rotation. Watch them tire out.

Logical fallacy and petty, If you have to go there, you're scared.

More like unsubstantiated speculation, but the Seahawks lead the league in PED suspensions, six players under Carroll. I'm not going to be naive and think that none of our guys are using, but the reality is that the NFL is probably looking at your guys closer based on the track record, so my speculation is that a lot of guys who may have been using have stopped based upon increased scrutiny. Guys off the juice aren't as good. Otherwise they wouldn't take it.

Based on WHAT?

This game is more important for our team than it is for yours. That's just a reality of the respective situations. If you lose to us, and then beat SF, then this loss won't mean much. Whereas for the Panthers, we need this win to start the season strong because of our history of slow starts the past two years.

All of our five losses were by 7 pts or less. The coin toss is nice, but hardly definitive. Most teams seem to defer these days. Oh, and 1 - 11 isn't unlucky, it's a problem. No disrespect, that's just what it is.

It's a problem, but we're hoping Rivera will get his stuff together. I guess we'll see.

You realize this is subjective hyperbole, right?

Yeah it's a literary device that sounds cool. I also used alliteration, metaphors, and parallelism.

I don't live in Seattle. Nice stereotypes though. Am I supposed to insult you now? I'll pass.

It's friendly stereotyping smack talk. If I wanted to insult you, I'd use less four syllable words and more four letter words.

So you're a Seattle fan because of Wilson? I guess I'll give you pass since we got a bunch of Auburn Cam bangwaggoners around here. At least you're not a Cowboy or Steelers fan...

You should make it out to Seattle when you get a chance though. Cool city. Bring a rain jacket not an umbrella though. That constant rain stuff is for real, but it's more like a mist. If you use an umbrella, you just look like a touristy asshat.
