What Seahawks fans are saying...

I want to know when we changed offenses that Cam seems to be having all this trouble learning.

Was thinking the same thing. They obviously don't understand that new oc doesn't mean new offense. Smh I was super closer to make an account just to tell them they were wrong. I will be making an account if we win and I will most likely be getting banned quick cause it will be wet in Seattle. Not because of the rain but from their tears

I like how they think Lynch is going to kill us. I think we'll take him out of the mix early and force Wilson to beat us with his arm...while running for his life.

I see Norman with another big day courtesy of Monsters, Inc.

They must be basing that on how Lynch killed us last year with his 21 carries for 85 yards while Beason was playing hurt at MLB, Kuechly was playing out of position at WLB and Star was at Utah.

I also think it's funny that they point out how much Wilson has developed since the last time we met while implying that we haven't.

We played them in week 5 last year... since then:

  • Our GM was fired and replaced.
  • We totally revamped our offensive approach which lead Cam to be one best QB's in the league during the final stretch of the season.
  • Beason went to IR and Kuechly was moved to MLB where he won DROY and lead the league in tackles while transforming us into a top 5 defense.
  • We won 6 of our last 9 games including a pretty convincing victory over the Falcons.

etc, etc, etc...

This is a fair observation, but in our case we (Seahawks):

  • won 8 of our last 11
  • Had a 3 game streak where we scored an average of 50 points a game
  • You talk about Cam being one of the best QBs in the league during the final stretch - I went back 9 weeks(based on your 6 of 9 week hot streak)  and during that time, when both were playing, Cam only posted a higher QBR than Russell twice during that span (and one of those games was our 58-0 lambasting of the Cardinals when Russell didn't play the last 25 mins and as a result the one 1INT that he threw cost him a lot more).  Cam may have been one of the best QB's in the league during that period, the stats appear to support that, however, they also appear to support my contention that Russell was one of the QB's in the league that was BETTER than Cam in that time period.
  • You may have transitioned into a top 5 defense in the time period after we played - I challenge you to look at the rankings for the other games since we played - You will consistently see that the Hawks ranked above you in that top 5 during that period..

Listen, I don't blame you guys for being confident going into this game - It is in your house, Cam had a guy open in the end zone last game that could have won that game for you, and for the most part you match up well against a run heavy offense like the Seahawks.  I just wanted to try and introduce a little additional perspective into your analysis.

At any rate, it should be a battle for both teams for sure - I can't wait for Sunday.

Go Hawks!

I don't know who is implying your team hasn't developed. Most commenters (worth talking to) recognize the improvements. Why act like it's all of us saying stupid things?

But, let's do look at development.

Cam's first five games: QB rating 82.47. Good. Last five games: 93.05. Improvement! Over ten points!

Russ's first five games: QB rating 75.28. Err... Last five gmes: 114.4. Um... 39 pt improvement.

Of course, it was his 2nd year while we are comparing Russ's rookie year. :) And Russ had to share preseason wit htwo other QBs. Just sayin'. :)

Yes, you went 7 - 2 and 4 - 1. You beat Atlanta... but lost to KC!

We went 7 - 2, too! And 5 - 0, beating two teams with 10 and 11.5 wins and a third team that was .500 (well, 7 - 8 - 1), including a dismantling of the eventual NFC champs.

Then we lost to Atlanta by 2 pts after 1. passing up a field goal try, (Carroll, you dufus!), after two straight 10 AM, East Coast games, and with our two top pass rushers.

Hmmm....

Yes, both teams are improved, theoretically, since last year. But the pretense there was more improvement for your team **from the time we played** to now doesn't look very valid. I guess since you had further to go it feels to you like you've caught up a lot. I'm not sure that is true.

I might give you more improvement for your team since the end of the year, however. If Carpenter plays a strong game, it's not going to matter. Run left, run left, pass. 1st down! Heck, might be run left, run left, run left, 1st down! LOL... I kid, but just a little. Carpenter was a 1st round pick and is FINALLY healthy.

Again, you are facing a Russel Wilson that went from a 75 QB rating to a 114 QB rating. It's that second one you are seeing on Sunday, less early season rusty parts, but rusty parts apply to all, so...

Cam? First year 84.2, second year 86.2. Hmmm... He's young and has lots of room to grow. I'm not sure how much better we should expect Wilson to be when he was at 102 for the year and 114 for the end of the year.

Frighteningly, I think he will be better. And don't feel too badly that Wilson was significantly better than Newton in his rookie AND second years, he was also better as a college QB:

Cam: QB Rating: 182

Comp %: 66.1

TDs: 30 INTs: 4

Russ: QB Rating: 191.8

Comp %: 72.8

TDs: 33 INTs: 3

Despite all this, I'm expecting a tough, close game. I guess I should call a low-scoring game, but it could be a shoot-out. Word of caution, I'm pretty certain a high scoring game is a definite loss for you guys. Anyways, won't be surprised if you win.

Respect.

Cheers

Oh, good news for you: Browner is nursing a hammy. Bad news: 1. Next man up is Walter Thurmond. 2. Next man up behind Thurmond replaced browner for 4 games last year and we didn't even notice Browner was out.

If Sherman goes down, too, then I'll worry.

Our D-line is still a mess, though. That's where I expect you to attack.

The fact that it was Cam's 2nd year and Wilson's first actually works in Wilson's favor. We'll see how he looks now that opponents have had a whole off season to study him.

It's also silly to compare QB ratings between a QB in a WCO (Wilson) and a QB in a vertical offense (Cam). A decent WCO QB will always have a higher QB rating simply because the offense calls for lower risk, higher % passes.
