I am one of Greg's biggest fans. He brings an attitude that money just cant buy. Here is a guy that has not received his big payday who Rivera said volunteered to be one of our gunners risking injury to better our team. I get angry when I here some say let him walk versus paying him market value.

While Frank Alexander is not bad, he is no Greg Hardy. Take Hardy away from the defense, and you lose the fear factor, at least on his side.  You lose the middle pressure he provides--the "man on the edge" attitude.  He is the beast--the face of the DL.  I think he is more important to our D than Johnson.   Greg Hardy is on the brink of becoming a household name--he reminds me of former Vikings DT John Randall and could emerge as a quieter, crazier Ray Lewis.

Our Defense has character.  We have our blue collar, quiet guys in the middle who exude a humble confidence rare in the NFL (Star, KK, and Kuechly).  Rushing the passer from the ends, there are some nasty attitudes (Johnson and Hardy).  At CB, Norman is going to become a ball-hawking gambler who feeds off the pressure our DL serves up.  Seriously, it is my opinion that we are a stud S away from having one of the best defenses in the NFL--a top 3 defense.

We need Hardy.  Alexander is great as a reserve who gives us 20 snaps a game, but he is not a game changer.  The last time we had someone as exciting as Hardy here, he became a Bear.  That person was accused of taking plays off--has anyone ever said that of Greg Hardy?  And they never will.

Hardy was once considered a lock to go in the first round, and then he was injured and some character concerns caused him to drop.  Well, he has survived those concerns and injuries and is now entering his prime.  Nothing against Alexander, but we lose a lot if we lose Hardy. The more I think about it, the more I think Gettlemen needs to get this done NOW.

We have the money this year, and we still have some fat that will be coming off in a few years.  I imagine Beason will be leaving, but do not be surprised to see Godfrey hit the trail too.  He is decent, but he is not earning his $$.   Stewart and Deangelo will also be gone, IMO. In fact, if we simply decided to only use first contract RBs (rarely do they live up to their second contract), we could keep Hardy.  It is money that makes our LBs and DBs better.

Yeah but remember this is only Alexander's 2nd year coming up. Hardy has progressively gotten better dont cut Alexander off at the knees and say he is a 20 snap guy when he hasn't been given an opportunity just yet.

Now I hope we don't need Alexandr as a starter and Johnson and Hardy flourish but to say Alexander can't be what Hardy or Johnson is isn't fair.

Frank Alexander is probably actually ahead of where Hardy was when Hardy was entering his second season. Hardy didn't do crap as a rookie. So don't write off Alexander. He could be great in a year or two

Ahead of where Johnson was too.  If he develops into a player of their caliber, and we have Hardy and Johnson too--we will be the Giants.  I think my point was that if we let Hardy go, we could regret it.  Not that Alexander will not develop, but that he might be all he will be right now--who knows.  But I can say that it seems as if he has been on the team for more than 1 season.

Interesting point--we could have the best DE tandem in the NFL--I think we do now---and we did it with a third rounder, sixth rounder, and fourth rounder.  Give Hurney his due--we did well drafting some positions.

Your name brings a tear to my eye.  There is a strong chance that you and I are related.
