O-Line Performance? Nate Chandler? Couldn't see game.

I've only watched the game through once, but there are a couple of things I can mention.

Regarding Chandler, from what I saw of him he actually looked decent. He manned the LT spot most of the night (Bell started). I know he put a Steeler pass rusher on his ass at least once.

Starting line for last night from left to right - Byron Bell, Travelle Wharton, Brian Folkerts, Chris Scott and Garry Williams

The later line was Nate Chandler, Tori Mobley, Folkerts (pretty sure he played the entire night) Hayworth Hicks and Patrick Brown

Chris Scott put Ziggy Hood down on an early play.

The fact that they didn't bother to play Jeff Byers makes me think he's pretty much in.

The fact that they started Bell at LT tells me they have more positive feelings about him than I do  Hope they're right.

And while I'm generally positive about the first group, I'm tempering any enthusiasm because 1) it was mostly against other backups and 2) Anderson was getting the ball out super fast most of his time in, so they weren't having to protect him for very long.

I wonder if going with a right side of Scott-Williams would be better than Williams-Bell

I've been paying extra attention to the o-line this preseason, as most of us have.

And one guy thats really flashed in my humble opinion, is Chris Scott.

He has looked fluid, shows good awareness and he is a big guy for a guard! Just last night I saw on a few plays that when he didn't have someone in front of him, he was always either helping the tackle or going to the second level.

I appreciate his fire to stay active during plays instead of being a lump on a log, so I'm rooting for him to make the 53.

I know he didnt pass 1 teams conditioning test because he was overweight, but I think that was two weeks before we signed him and he could potentially be our Nate Chandler this year. Just putting that out there.

Cautious optimism, and I'll leave it at that ;)

Byers actually was dealing with a minor knee issue.

I give the dude credit. He is doing whatever it takes and players like him with ambition and drive tend to succeed more so then not. I am pulling for him. Unlike fat ass Otah who was given everything and blew it

When I watched the game last night, Scott at RG and Williams at RT looked better than Williams at RG and Bell at RT. Maybe when Amini is healthy, Bell gets benched and we'll see Wharton at RG and Williams at RT.

Or maybe Bell gets benched anyway for Week 1 and we see Scott and Williams out there.
