This game still makes me have my doubts about Fedora leading the ship & I hate the defensive scheme it's dumb. Fedora lucky he inherited the talent he did from Butch or these teams would be looking way worse.

Nah, Tarheels suck to bad to be our rival.  I think their fans are clamoring for a meaningful rivalry game.  We've owned every school from North Carolina the past ten years.  Now Georgia.....we hate them bad.

I expected more from Ebron and Clowney... I think Renner did also. Saying Clowney had an impact in this game is a slap in the face to the guys who did show up and shut down a pretty good offense.

Sorry, but he is in horrendous shape. The other guys on the defense weren't having to come off the field every other play. There were some plays where Clowney literally gave zero effort. Pathetic.

 

And Hurst deserves some credit for that, by the way. I will say that Clowney did completely dictate UNC's gameplan, so I will credit him for that. But his trash talk about he was going to "expose" Hurst? What a joke.

Lol, if so, he might as well just head for the pros.  Gamecocks had more talent and spurrier is a proven coach but an easy win?  UNC's defensive scheme looked very pop warnerish...that defensive scheme isn't gonna win many games in the ACC much less the SEC. 

 

No adjustment to apply pressure when the front four weren't successful, missed assignments and tackles that resulted in 2 big play TDs.  I guess it is an improvement from last year when UNC was giving up almost 35+ per game...it's kind of ironic because over the years, the one thing UNC usually did was play good defense even when the team was God-awful. 

 

And then it's 4 and 2 at the goal line (20-7) and you kick a FG?  Not on the road and an underdog...what the hell is the coaching staff thinking?

 

As for Clowney, great player but too much hype right now.  I'll pull for the Gamecocks to win the SEC but clearly they have some holes to fill because GA has a better and more experienced offense.

Little late to this conversation, but it looks like Clowney was pulling an Albert Haynesworth for much of this game.  I don't get it, how can he be so tired?  Usually you have this problem with DTs.  Also you may have good DEs taking plays off on the field.  Yet Clowney was huffing and puffing out there.  I can only think of one or two things here.  One, maybe there's an underlying problem concerning his health.  Definitely don't want that to be it.  Two, all this hype and attention went to his head, and he wants to be the first true defensive player to win the Heisman.  Every play he's trying to cause a sack fumble, pick it up and run for a touchdown.  So with each snap, he's going a thousand miles an hour.  When the sack fumble doesn't happen, he beats himself up over it.  Ultimately wearing himself out.

 

 

This is just the first game, so hopefully he can correct this problem.

 

Word was that Clowney was battling a stomach virus.
