I just love how a guy who has yet to play a single NFL game has already been anointed DeAngelo/JStew's replacement. Maybe we should wait to see him actually play in a couple of games before making a decision.

And DeAngelo is useless! Do you overreact much? Seems he did ok at the end of last season and was ranked 8th best out of 52 two seasons ago by Football Outsiders.

In fairness they aren't doing much... so replacing them isn't the task some make it out.

Other places have negatively graded out for the last couple seasons

Yea and three of them ran an offense that everybody hated watching us run (and are so glad to have heard us abandon using even part-time) and the worst rushing team out of the 8 of them won the Superbowl

And then last year the very worst team in the league in rushing won the superbowl

I'm not included in those that are happy about abandoning the read option, and I don't think we are and that information is something that has been overstated in the media.

I think most likely Stewart is traded. DWill may stick around some way or another.

Trade a guy who spent 2012 on IR. 2013 on PUP......with a fat contract?

Who would trade for that. You don't gamble on a RB

I'm not ready to write off DeAngelo yet, but RB's get old overnight so we'll just have to wait and see what he looks like this year. I'm not going to hold the preseason against him, Adrian Peterson would struggle to be effective with the way our offensive line has played so far.

I am concerned about Stewart, the injuries are starting to pile up... he cam out of college with a foot problem and it seems like he's dealing with a new nagging injury each year. At a certain point in the very near future, it probably makes sense to move on.

Deangelo useless?

What a stupid joke..

DW is running behind an average Oline but he is still averaging the 4.3 yards /c in 2012..

Be happy to have DW otherwise our offense would be useless..

15 games into last season he was average a full yard less almost. Everyone was realized that Williams, this OL, and scheme was all just a poor fit. Saints game skewed things absurdly and everyone forgets how unimpressive he was all year

If you go around the league and start omitting rushing numbers from players when they are playing bad rush defending teams then suddenly everyone's numbers aren't very good.

Stats being padded against poor run teams is not something isolated to Deangelo Williams.

One of the things good running backs do is take advantage of poor rush defending teams.

Agreed.

And I'd add this: Fix the O-Line first. Once that's done, then let's talk about runningbacks.

I'm not really worried about past draft decisions or guessing who will or will not be with us next year.

With the life-span of an NFL RB is it that amazing to predict they will be gone in a year?

I'm more concerned about 2013 and how we are going to run the ball.   In the little bit of time we have seen the first string this preseason Shula's and Rivera's talk about going back more of a straight-ahead run game is hitting a wall.  And that's being generous.

98% sure we won't get any reassurances tonight either.  So that means entering the season with huge question marks all over this offense.  Fortunately, as a Panther fan I am used to having the team emotionally crush me in September.  I always hope I'm wrong but this team is going to have to lean heavily on the defensive side of the squad until we can find something that works.

You're joking, right? Our offense is useless without Dwill? Are you smoking crack? Cam was our leading rusher in 2011 with the most explosive offense in our franchise.
