I learned that being a really terrible boyfriend is ok as long as you win a game of pick-up basketball.

be that as it may, it's admittedly a smaller pill to swallow than if our traded pick turned out to be a perennial pro-bowler

I understand what you're saying but if we had kept the pick instead of trading it there's very little chance that we just happen to draft the exact same player the Pats did. Personally I was really high on the TE Kyle Rudolph sitting there in the 2nd, who is now a pro-bowler.

Saying we "win" the trade is like giving someone $10,000 cash for a 20 year old rusted out POS car that doesn't even run and then saying later "well I found out they used all the money to buy a pile of manure so actually I won the trade!". Uh, no.

We got ass raped in that trade either way. It's completely irrelevant to me if they used the pick wisely or not, actually I remember thinking it was a pretty stupid pick when they made it.

    • I don't care about offensive production for a team that literally only threw to him and the running back. I care about what I see on film:   Dude cannot separate on his own against talented LBs/S and had to be schemed open; his route running is below average; while pretty athletic, he doesn't have elite athleticism or speed; his blocking form has quite a few red flags (dude should be a dominant run blocker for his size). He was talented enough to get open in college against a slower LB/S; that won't be the case in the NFL. Not to mention, the dude pretty much was nonexistent until this year for Penn St. If I am drafting a TE in the top 10, choosing a 5th year senior that didn't do anything until his last season should be pretty alarming. Not saying he is going to be a bad player - I think he will be a solid short/intermediate possession TE in the NFL. I just don't understand the logic of taking him top 10
    • No one is arguing where we were on the season.  After the benching Bryce was one of the top deep ball passers in the league.  It's a skillset he has just shown he is capable of doing.  I believe he led the league in week 12 and was one of the top ones for that final quarter.  Dance around the topic and argue the stats all you want, I'm just going by what I saw on TV and read about.   https://x.com/PattonAnalytics/status/1877044086709854343 https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/bryce-young-best-against-pressure-throwing-deep Hey it surprised me as well, but I'm not going to hide my head in the sand and try to ignore what is clearly right in front of me.  People have a hard time admitting their original thought may have been wrong.  That's just the world we live in.  We will see if Young can keep it up next year or not, but signs are point to DC running his offense regardless of who is QB.
    • You are right, but as of late there has been more rookie TEs making immediate impact on teams. McBride, Laporta, Kincaid and obv Bowers.  My true opinion is the team has so many holes they can go multiple directions including Safety. So it just comes down to out of all the talent in the draft who will make the immediate impact. Wr? TE? LB?
