Lance Louis, RG (returning from ACL) cut unexpectedly

top dawg

Josh Samuda is undrafted rookie and he has started the last few preseason games whiel John Jerry sat with a bruised knee. So if Louis couldnt even "show what he has" with our starters with the starting RG out over a undrafted rookie....how much can he help you guys?

We released a certain player named Wharton in favor of, well, no one (we didn't even have another LG on the roster, or one worth a poo) for similar reasons.... Someone outplaying him wasn't one of them.

We released a certain player named Wharton in favor of some UDFA named Bell for similar reasons.....Bell outplaying him wasn't one of them.

Wharton was overpaid and I don't think Bell being a RT had any affect on Wharton the LG.

Louis was on a cheap one year deal. Miami saved very little by releasing him. His play had fell off due to the ACL injury. The article stated as much.

Yeah, no idea why I had Bell in my head...brain far. I meant Amini.  And we didn't really release him because of Amini, at the time of release, Amini wasn't even drafted yet. If you recall we released Wharton without ANY real starting LG on the roster AT ALL.

That's my main point.

I thought Wharton was due something crazy that year, like 6-7 mil.

Idk how high it was, but his contract is the reason for release.

A player on a one year deal who is cut, usually isn't cut because of money. Rather their play wasn't heads above the competition..

Just to reiterate my point, since I got some poo all confused in my earlier post. In 2012, we let Schwartz walk in FA and then released Wharton. At that point we had literally no starting RT or LG, we eventually signed Hangartner and drafted Amini, while letting a UDFA compete with a person with a brain disorder (Campbell), whose ability to conceptualize scouts described as "scary", at RT with Bell eventually winning that position.

God, just thinking back on all those moves makes my asshole pucker. And you know why we did those moves? So we could sign a backfield to 2924809834 Billion dollars and assume they could run successfully behind North Wilkes High School level O-line men.

Yeah, we didn't have a player in the wings at the LG position. I cant remember who was the favorite before the draft, but Wharton was for sure cut because of the money he was owed.

He was on the field for a hot minute, so how they can say his play has fallen off just isn't quite logical to me.  If he passes waivers, I bet you that they'll be the first ones in line trying to sign him to an even cheaper deal.

Guess he didn't seperate himself from his competition??? 1.6 million isn't very much money for a solid starter. The article said he couldnt keep up with their UDFA. I can't claim to know how the remaining RGs for the phins look. All I know is it wasn't 100% about his money...

I can. They are mediocre/terrible. One is John Jerry who is overweight since he joined our team. The other is undrafted rookie Josh Samuda who would have been destroyed by old women with walkers  if they were rushing the passer.

The Bears have gotten Cutler killed the last few years and they didnt resign Louis. He's done.
