Kugbila to IR

Exactly how much did you expect he would play if he were active.  If Amini who was a second rounder struggled as much as he did, why did you think Kugbila wouldn't as well.  Going to IR is fine at this point.  The hype about him potentially starting was crazy anyway.  This way there won't be undue pressure to play him before he is ready.

I have a dream...that one day, we will spend our picks on offensive linemen who actually played Division I-A football, and who can stay healthy for the duration of a full season.

I have a dream...that we will sign another offensive lineman, who will provide an actual impact in a non-turnstile way.

I have a dream...that we will hang onto Jimmy Clausen, provided he show he's really better than Anderson as he seems to be.

I have a dream...that oh hell, there's just too many of them

What a terrible pick. it was said after the draft that there was a "disagreement" on this pick, and I wanna know who the dingo who made this move was. Have to assume Gettleman. what a waste. there was so much talent left on the board, especially on the OL, and we wasted a pick on some project 7th rounder who is now sitting out the season with a sore hammy. stupid.

IMHO, the kid was trying so hard to prove himself, he overdid it. He knew he was behind and while trying to catch up, he messed himself up. Now it is going to cost him a year. (A year he can grow and learn, and come back stronger and ready to go.) Too bad for him, the team, and us fans.

Let's see. Gettlemen goes 4/5 in his first draft and that still ain't good enough for a lot of folks around here. If you think a team hits the draft at 100%. (Including, missing on a 4th rounder.) You really do need to take a step back.

Reading this thread it is obvious that the school cafeteria ran out of tater tots today. Cuz there sure are a poo ton of bunched up panties. Mom, mom, Mommy, Mommy, that Kugzilla kid ain't gonna play this year. Those Pantherz sure do suck.

Man, you gotta love this interwebz thingy.

Considering we have to be at 75 today and we got to that by putting Kug on IR, I'm assuming that we can't re-designate him now. But I could easily be wrong on that. Anyway, looking at the comments that official Panther outlets are posting, it doesn't sound like that is happening:

From that link:

"Since the new IR rule is being adopted after the 75-man roster cuts, for the 2012 season only, the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to a transition process that allows teams to activate one player back to the 53-man roster who has been put on IR since the start of training camp."

Sounds like he'd be eligible as long as they designate him as such.

My understanding was that it had to be considered a significant injury for them to be able to designate him as such. Not sure what qualifies as significant though.

meanwhile...

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver and fourth-round pick Quinton Patton made his preseason debut on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings and did not disappoint, catching four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Patton did most of his damage working out of the slot, where the 49ers have a need for a player that can run clean routes and get separation. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick gave Patton glowing reviews on his first NFL game.

"He is a great player," Kaepernick said. "He is someone he just knows football. He knows how to get open. He knows how to make plays. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do for us.

"He is someone that it is easy to have chemistry with. He knows where windows are in defenses. He knows how to get open."

I've heard nothing but great things about this guy, especially his work ethic. This really stings.

Ohwell, such is life.
