Hardy extension in the works

Terrible mistake. Especially if we sign him now. This will be signing double trouble all over again. Mark my words, next season we will all be on here saying what a big mistake this will be. When we re signed Stewart, I was the only one saying it was a terrible move while all the other Panther fans where busy popping the champaign corks and I got ridiculed.

Frank Alexander is coming into his own, we have Dwan Edwards, Star, Short and CJ. We plain ole dont need Hardy bad enough to pay him mega bucks. I would rather trade him now while has value. Bet we could easily get a 1st and 2nd rounder for him, maybe more.

The difference is you actually need 2 DE's.   Double trouble was a luxury buy.  2 DE's more of a necessity.

Its all about balance. We have a solid pass rush up the middle and a very solid rusher in Alexander and CJ not to mention the best LB corps in the league when healthy. Trade Hardy now for early round picks and build the O line and get a stud DB. God I hope we dont sign Hardy, especially now.

Depends on what you think his strengths are. I think he is a decent pass rusher right now, but from just watching a very limited sample, I don't think he is that good against the run. Thus why I think Hardy is a better fit. Add to the fact that he has flexibility to go inside on obvious passing downs, it makes him much better all around in my opinion. If we have no inkling on keeping him long term, then by all means let him play out the year. But if we are going to continue to have probably one of the best front 7's in the league, then we should lock him up for a bit longer. Also he is only 25 years old, 1 year older than ...yes Frank Alexander.

Hardy's ability to go inside is more valuable when Fua is your DT.

If DG cam get Hardy cheap now, then that is awesome. If not, I'd hate to see big money thrown at him now when we lots of promising DL guys and already have a mega contract on the line.

Plus, it really comes down to Hardy's crazy side just makes me a tiny nervous.

It's hard to find good DE's.  Let me say that again.  It's hard to find good DE's.   We drafted this guy in the 6th and he looks real.

Yes there is the crazy part, but at least it's not meth crazy, and Getty will use that in the negotiations.

I've got a good feeling about this....3 years,  fair salary, with out clauses for us if he goes Birdman.

Getty likes DE's , considers them hogmollies, so prepare for a deal.

To me having defense ends who can slaughter quarterbacks is a pretty important thing. That makes the entire defense and offense better. Greg is definitely a DE who slaughters QBs so I don't want him going anywhere. You also have to remember that having beasts on the end was always what they had in New York while Gettleman was there so I think there's a good chance that a deal gets done.

Like many of us have said, best to sign him now before the price goes WAAAAAAAYYYYY up.

If the contract is worded correctly it will be much less risk to extend him now than to wait until they end of this season and pay much more to keep him from leaving.

His agent is going to want a ton of money for him, he's got the mega agent that get's ridiculous amounts of money for his players. It's easily going to be a 9-10 million a year deal. Very much similar to what CJ got for his deal. Kruger got 40 million and I'd like to think that Hardy is a better player, so expect Drew to bring that up and get him CJ money. (all three have the same agent, drew rosenhaus.)

Paul Kruger deal - 5 years, 40 million (20 guaranteed)

CJ's Deal - 6 years - 76 million (32 guaranteed)

I'm expecting his deal to be something like 5 years for 60 million with around 25-30 of it guaranteed. Can the Panther's really afford that with Cam's contract coming up and needing basically a new OL and a few WR's next off season? Not really, not if they care about winning and care about Cam Newton getting what it takes around him to be successful.

Well if the team goes 6-10 the next 2 years Cam wont be getting a fat check.
