Good research Kurb... May want to edit op to show the savings of spreading the money over 2 years as in many case that is a no brainier because even if you don't use the extra money you can carry it over into the next year.

For example on Godfrey if we rationed the dead money over 2 years (5 million dived by 2) we would gain an additional 2.5 million in space by cutting him next year. This would give us 4.6 million in cap space if needed for next year and we would be adding to 2.5 of dead money into 2015.

Granted its just like an interest free loan of cap space and you don't have to use it all unless you want to.

Also the secondary does not scare me. Mitchell,Captain, D.J. Moore, Nakumara and Florence are not names to fret over. I'm glad that we do have both Josh Norman and Thomas under contract for be next year.

Thats a lot of work :)

Maybe next time, but you make good points. Especially on Godfrey. He need better be lights out, or he might be out.

Here's the 2014 depth chart(everyone currently under contact) feel free to add to the op if you deem worthy.

This way everyone can visualize what Gettleman is facing for next year.

QB- Cam

WR- Steve Smith, Joe Adams, Pilares(if he clears waivers and not cut with injury settlement). And James shaw is technically under contract for next year too but he won't be here.

TE- Olsen, Brandon Willams

HB -Williams, Stewart, Barner,Tauren Poole, Armond Smith- of course the last 2 have to make the cuts this year first.

FB- Tolbert

LT - Nate Chandler

LG- Amini

C- Kalil

RG- Kugbila, Hayworth Hicks(probably does not make it to next year)

RT- nobody

DE- CJ, Alexander,Addison

DT- Star, Kawann, Dwan, Kearse, Fua( not sure Kearse or Fua make it this year)

MLB- Luke, Blackburn

OLB- Thomas Davis, A.J Klein, Doug Houge(he won't be here)

CB- Josh Norman, Josh Thomas,

FS, Godfrey, Colin Jones(probably wont make it).

SS- D.J Campbell, Russell Anderson(again probably won't make it that past this year).

K -Gano

P- Nortman

LS- Jansen

Before everyone becomes depressed, remember that Gettlemen did some pretty impressive things over the past 7 months-he created about $32 million in cap room (some dead money, I know) and signed several players who will start or be key contributors (Florence, Mitchell, D Edwards, Munnerlyn, Moore, Blackburn, Wharton, Ginn, etc--that is awesome).  Hardy could be signed if you are willing to find a rookie or cheap free agent to replace Godfrey. Odds are strong that Beason is gone, etc. I am confident that the Hardy money can be found in the couch cushions (meaning by eliminating Hurney's bad deals).  DeAngelo, Stewart, and perhaps a few others can be eliminated.  Yes, I think Tolbert, Barner, and a rookie can be just as good at RB as the two we had who were paid an average of $17k per yard gained last year.  I also think we can bring Gross back for 1 more season.

If we draft a WR, T, FS, G, RB, we should be good.  Cut or trade Godfrey, Stewart, DWill, Beason, etc. Yes, some will get all emotional about that, but this is a business.

If we resign Hardy his contract can be cap friendly for a year or two.  People forget that a contract could average 12 million a year but the cap hit in year 1 could be less than 3 million.  Flacco's contract averaged 20 million but it has a cap hit of 6 million in 2013.
