Stewart seeing ankle specialist today

When most players have serious foot and ankle problems, they get on a plane to go see Dr. Robert Anderson.

Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart just has to go down the hall, since Anderson’s one of the Panthers’ team doctors.

According to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, Stewart is seeing Anderson this morning, at which point the Panthers will know better whether the sixth-year running back is going to be ready for the regular season.

“It’s one of those things, he’s still going through a couple other things with the doctor,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “It’s one of those things that we’re just waiting to get the answer.”

Since Stewart hasn’t practiced this offseason, he’s still eligible for reserve/PUP, which would allow him to return after the first six weeks.

The Panthers could use him, especially with a renewed interest in running the ball with their running backs instead of the quarterback this year.

*crosses fingers*

Come on, give us good news!!! We need J-Stew for the opener.

nevermind the opener, we need him this entire season. If he isn't there this season I will have to admit he's rather useless in reference to remaining healthy enough to actually help. This raises the question will Barner replace him or DWILL? Sad enough will all this backfield power versus the actual results we could cut two of those big contracts and get legit O-Line help and fulfill any weakness in the run D! Just a thought, but this is getting old because Stew really is the type of Powerback we desperately need to boost our passing threat!

11 days before kick off and Stew is just now going to get an answer.  Boy howdy, I sure hope the Doc says everything is OK because if he does, Stewart will be our featured back and he will prolly rush for 200 yards...WTF?

I don't give a damn what Anderson says, this whole situation sucks and there is no "good" answer coming today.  Him being 100% at the beginning of next year is all I am hoping for as I am tired of watching Panthers that don't belong on the field "give it a go" like Otah or Beason or Gettis.  Just give Barner the carries and move on.

I doubt Stew has just been sitting on his hands, which is why this visit is so troubling.  He wouldn't be going in unless something isn't healing right.

fuging hell what a poo situtation. 4 million in cap space not even on the field...

I doubt the news will be good

Im guessing IR to be honest.

It's all quiet, then this. Sounds like something isn't healing right.

No worries guys, we can release him in 4 years and it not fug our cap completely.
