I just have to share a story about the stupidity of some people in East Tennessee

As I've mentioned on the Huddle a few times, I work as a delivery driver for Papa John's as a means for disposable income. I work at two locations - one in the Memphis suburb of Collierville and one right on the UT Knoxville campus.

I make almost three times as much money at the Knoxville location than I do in Collierville, but that comes at a price. If you've ever been to Knoxville, you have probably noticed that the roads here are very poorly engineered. I consider it to be the most undriveable city in America. This alone makes my job hell.

Anyway, so the other night I took a delivery to an office building on the south side of Knoxville, which is about as developed as a war-torn Syrian village. The instructions on the receipt said to call a number when I arrived. Upon my arrival, a man came stumbling out of the building, most likely drunk or on meth. I pulled up and asked the man if he had ordered. He just stood there and stared at me, not a word spoken

So I pulled out my phone and dialed the number on the receipt. Lo and behold the man pulls out his phone and answers it, seemingly oblivious to the fact that I was the one calling.

He then proceeds to get angry, yelling at me in the most jumbled white trash jargon that I should've said something to him about being a pizza guy. Keep in mind that my car has a huge, brightly lit car topper with our logos and that I had asked him if he'd ordered.

Expectantly, he did not tip, and didn't even say "thank you."

This is just one example of the mass stupidity that comprises Knoxville and East Tennessee. Other than the University area, the city is a complete dump that smells like poo.

I lived in NC for 8 years. While there is quite a fair amount of white trash there, I've never seen it like it is here.

My family is from Knoxville and the surrounding area.

Thems be fightin words!

I meant to change the title to "some people" but can't edit on Android.

The Farragut area is nice, as are some parts of Maryville and Bearden. Anywhere else though, I stand by my words.

I love east Tennessee but iwas just recently in the pigeon forge and Seiverville area and holy crap people there are seriously the stupidest in the world. I could not believe some of the stuff i saw. My friend and I still talk all the time about the kind of people we saw

Sevierville/Gatlinburg is relatively nice and well developed but there's just something about it I don't really like...probably the tourist trap atmosphere.

Care to expound on what you saw?

last week i drove up to mammoth cave in kentucky with a buddy of mine and we drove through bristol in northeast tennessee on the way up and then down through knoxville on the way back. you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a baptist church, mccain/palin bumpersticker, shirtless rednecks in pickup trucks from the 1980's, or pawn shops called Big Dog's Guns-n-Stuff. the radio picks up nine country music stations, four christian music stations, two traditional sermon/hymn stations, 1920's bluegrass recordings, and one classic rock station with a 3:1 jimmy-buffet-to-everything-else ratio.

kill me

I remember sending pledges on a road trip to the same fraternity in other colleges. UVA, Richmond, Florida. And of course UT. The poor kids came back with horror stories from UT.

We also did a road trip to a football game in KY and while gassing up in Eastern TN at around 10:00 a.m on a Saturday a couple of rednecks came over and asked "you heading to a lynching?"

My black buddy was passed out in the front seat.

I said "YEP!!!"

TN will make a run against any state for the most assbackwards poo
